I know of one well known VP Pro that pounds (very hard) on the machines he's
playing. He must think that will help in the deal and re-draw. Do I think
it helps? No, but he must. Everyone is different in how they approach the
game and right or wrong, unless you are a robot or cyborg, you will have
feelings about the machine you are playing. You may live in a perfect world of
just numbers, but I prefer to experience and live my life with a little more in
it.
After losing $500, I would much rather leave a casino in a frame of mind that
I have had a lot of fun, played the best I could, and enjoyed myself, instead
of being in a foul mood and taking it out on everyone who comes near me. Of
course if I win.......that's another story.>>

- call sign? Just curious.
As for pounding the machines, I used to do this until I noticed that my hands
began to hurt & I started to worry about carpal tunnel syndrome. It's been a
couple of years since I had any pain or soreness and I'm a lot calmer now as I
experience more up & down cycles.
As for moving around, I'll do it even though I know it doesn't make a bit of
difference.
If I'm feeling particuarly lazy, I'll stay on the machine until it comes back
which it often does. Had a recent session on nickel 50-play where I was
upside down to the tune of $1100 before it started to come back. When I quit, I had
6 royals & was up $36. Of course, I've had a lot of sessions where staying on
a machine just dug me a deeper hole.
Moving around helps psychologically in that you think you're changing some
sort of cycle that doesn't exist. It's like quitting early when you're up on a
positive play. Basically you're trying to adjust results to whatever your pain
threshhold can stand.
In short, the objective is to end on a positive note as well as to try to
maximize $ results. Maybe we ought to promote this as it would reduce the ratio
of grumpy old men
