Posting problems, setting off quoted material (XVP)...

Just in case you didn't see my problems with the Happy Birthday thread.

When I highlight text, click on Reply, and surround the quoted text with <<

as seems to be the standard for showing quoted material, when the post

appears the quoted text usually vanishes completely, and is replaced by "<>" in the
post. Previous versions of AOL would automatically place << before each
quoted line, which was nice and easy. 9.0 Optimized not only doesn't do this, but
apparently surrounding text with << >> is some kind of AOL delete command for
the surrounded text! I don't want to have to work hard to reply to a post, any
suggestions? I know I can cut and paste the quoted portion, and surround it
with quotation marks, but this takes more time and quotation marks don't stand
out as much.

Thanks for any help. In the meantime, sorry for the multiple ineffective
posts!

Brian

Brian:

Your post (appended below) is very clear as to what
is being quoted and what is your input. An excellent
format that should be emulated by many.

One hint for several posters is to always have an empty
line between quoted text and your reply.
