Subject: RE: Re: Skip Hughes Top 40 ListWhat sort of things do you prefer to post there rather than here, and
why? Do others who subscribe to both lists do the same? I'm considering
resubscribing.
I'll post things that are location-specific, that is, Reno/Tahoe or Las Vegas
like a promotion at a casino. I often post it to both Lodestone/SHG & here.
Sometimes just Lodestone because there's a lot of background noise/rampant
discussion on vpFREE about something (smoking, RS, etc.) & posting actual VP
info feels like posting off-topic so it goes to Lodestone to avoid the
clutter.
Before a trip I always like to check Lodestone for inventory & any recent
discussion on promotions or best plays. Most likely it can be done on vpFREE
too but there is just a lot more to filter out due to the greater volume of
posts.
Have I ever found anything really good on these boards? It depends on your
definition. The best have actually come from word-of-mouth (friends & casino
employees), serendipity, and from walking around the casinos.
I use Skip's Lodestone info to refresh myself on what's in a casino
especially if I haven't been there in a while. I use vpFREE primarily for
board info & sometimes the discussions are pretty interesting & the quality
is high.
As for the Top 40 rankings, pay very little attention to casino's ranking. If
the casino has a good promotion going on & you're there, it's in your top 5
for the moment. If you're staying there & you want to come back, then it's
number one.
If you can't get a seat, no matter how good it is, the casino may as well be
last. (Years ago, I stopped going to the Fiesta because locals always had the
good machines locked up on rotation.)
