Posting and Plugging

Howdy

As you all know there are on this forum some authors who have published VP
related topics. My question is how do you feel about them plugging their
wares at the end of their posts? Is it shameless, is it redundant or maybe it
doesn't bother you one way or another.

What would be the purpose of this inquiry? Clearly the signature
lines are in line with what the most excellent moderator finds
acceptable.

So, really . . . . why? We all understand you hate everything, but
why intentionally try to start controversy?

I could not agree with your observation more! This poster in
particular seems to feel the need to provide topics for us to
discuss. I do not think we are in need of a discussion leader. We
would value their input on topics that come up but to repeatedly
suggest "topics for discussion" is unnecessary. I thought it was
just me that noticed this trend.

Bill

Hiya Grumpy!

Naah! Doesn't bother me in the least, 'cuz I don't read the
advertisements attached to emails anyway (not even the ones that are
always tacked on by YAHOO! to the ends of your messages - and that's
not meant as an indictment!!) It's like tuning out televsions
commercials (Or it used to be for me. I actually haven't watched
television in almost 2 years.) There are so many "links" inserted,
and banners running across the top/bottom/sides of everything - I
just sorta filter them out.

Doesn't bother me a bit. In fact, sometimes I click on them to see
if there is anything interesting. You won't find me clicking on any
of the aol stuff like the trailer that attached itself to your post
though! (See below). I had aol for years when I still used dial-up
and they were the most annoying isp ever.

I think that it is OK for the VP author's to post a one liner at the bottom about there VP wares provided that they have asked the moderator of the group for permission. Having the expertise of Bob Dancer, Dan Paymar, and Jean Scott for free, or in exchange for the advertising being allowed at the bottom, is well worth it. Of course this might create a problem as other "author's" could ask for the same. It is up to the moderator to distinguish those that are helpful in an honest and impartial way.

I personally do find it shameless. I, for one, would never mention
that Dunbar's Risk Analyzer for Video Poker can be purchased for
around $20 at either shopLVA.com or gamblersbook.com. For that
matter, I'd never mention that Dunbar's Risk Analyzer for Blackjack
can be purchased for around $15 at shopLVA.com, gamblersbook.com, or
bj21.com. I don't understand how other authors can be so crass.

Shameless!
