City's (Detroit) single-line $5 progressive crept past $38,000 this
afternoon. Base games include 9/6 JoB, NSUD, and 9/7 DB (and some
other junk). Only one machine was in use when I was there.

I currently have about a $10,000 bankroll to play with, but I sure
as hell ain't going to risk it on no $5 machine, and especially on
9/6 JB. On that boring game you will lose, lose, lose, until you hit
that royal. And by that time, my $10,000 will have been (to quote
Ernie Harwell) "Lonnnnnng Gone!! I'd rather play dollar Pick'Em at
99%, even without the royal figured in. But, then again, I might risk
a couple grand of it. Maybe. We'll see. Maybe.

1-(1-1/32744)^10000=26%
and your average loss (excluding rf and sf) is:
(1.018635-.0489-.0056)-1 x10000x$25=-$8,966

iggy's comment doesn't question the accuracy of your measured
progression rate ... in fact, he accepts it as a given.
The "assuming" that he's referring to has to do with the addition of
both the cashback rate (.0167) and the progression rate (.5) to the
machine return at the current meter (101.95) to arrive at a total ER
of 102.46%.
I won't delve into details (because they get a little messy), but
there's a strong argument that under most circumstances only a
fraction of the meter progression rate should be added to the play
return. In this case, I'd have suggested a stated ER excluding the
.5% meter rate, or 101.96%.
Ignoring the meter progression altogether does mean that the answer
isn't precise, but it's a more reasonable representation than
including it.
