I just discovered that at least 40,000 points I'd accumulated on July 18 at
Orleans didn't register. I was lucky to notice the slipup before more time
had passed. Apparently what happened was -- I was at the Gold Coast, which is
changing its system (Coasts are going to go to Free Play instead of coupons
soon). My card didn't register at the machine I was playing at GC, so they
gave me a couple of new cards. (old card was giving me "reinsert card"
message) The new cards did register at GC now. [Meanwhile my husband's old card
had no problem at GC for unknown reasons.]
When I was at Orleans, I used one of the cards (I'm not sure if it was new
or old). It said "Card Accepted" so I played. But I didn't notice that after
that, it said "slot" instead of my name! My husband played with his card -
no problem.
Fortunately, during play I got a W2G, and I played right after my husband on
the same machine, so Orleans slot person I talked to today was able to
determine that I was no doubt the person registered as "unknown" - and he will try
to get a manual fix to get me my points and coin in fixed. I don't know if
they will be able to figure out full amount or not.
Anyway, moral of the story is to always not only make sure your card says
"accepted" when inserted, but also your name if that is normal, and that points
are accumulating normally (they were). I've been at casinos where I put in
my card and had someone else's name appear! (I had to take out and reinsert
card several times to get the correct name). I've had card say "accepted"
and no points accumulated. So I should have been more careful. And I major
problems with Harrahs with points being their that then vanished (never
actually going into the account).
Anyway - should you notice a slot point irregularity contact the slot
supervisor as soon as possible. They probably can pull up the records for a
particular machine and do a manual addition of points.
Perhaps we all should be writing down points in and points out to watch out
for problems, but this is a pain in the neck. Still, sometimes points do
disappear.
