Pocket PC for Winpoker

I am planning to purchase a pocket pc for playing Winpoker. I contacted the
winpoker website and was told I would need a pocket pc with a CE operating
system. When I had no luck finding a pocket with this os, I contacted Hewlet-
Packard. They told me they no longer use the CE os. They now use Microsoft
Mobile. Will this os work? Does anyone know of a brand that still uses the
CE? Thanks, Ray

I am running Winpoker on a Cassiopeia e-125 PDA which I purchased on
ebay a couple of years ago for about $75. It works very well on this
machine. I just checked ebay and there are several units for sale at
various prices.

OK Stupid question time. Are you guys talking about "Bob Dancer
Presents Winpoker" or some other software? A quick visit to
www.zamzone.com (which is where I bought winpoker 6.0.5) doesn't
turn up any mention of a mobile edition, nor does a Google search
of "Winpoker Mobile Edition". Are you guys just installing Winpoker
on your PocketPC PDA as-is?

There is a mobile edition on the Zamzone site. As I recall you have to
hunt for it in either the download area or other links or something. It
is not the normal PC version and it was free when I downloaded mine.

If you plan to use your pocket pc with winpoker and want to do a game analysis with a new paytable, you might want to consider the processor speed of the pocket pc. Dean gives a warning that it could take 10-30 minutes for the calculation.

I have a Dell Axim X30 @624 MHz. It calculates a new paytable in a fast 40 seconds!

I am totally happy with Dean's program. It has JOB, DW, JP, DDJ, DB, and DDB on it.

I feel that strategy is FAR more important and therefore you would
need Frugal or Strategy Master. Win Poker is my second choice. It
doesn't do sequentials either.

True. I also have Jim's Frugalvp and Tomski's VPSM. But winpoker on the pocket pc can be used to calculate the value of a progressive at a discreet location within the casino (out of view). I use to go out to my car in the parking garage to check a paytable on the laptop. But this is much more convenient.

The pocket pc is also good for practice and to evaluate particular hands. I'm finding the pocket pc becoming indispensable for all my note taking. I have maps stored on it and can find addresses anywhere in LV, Chicago, San Francisco, etc.

Incidently, I saw the following on my other favorite site,
slickdeals.net

"Starting Sunday 3/20 Office Depot will have a $100 rebate on any PDA
or Pocket PC priced $199 or higher.

You may want to check this out to save $ on the purchase.

I have winpoker on my HP IPAQ rx3715 running Windows Mobile 2003
Second Edition and it works just fine. I got some sort of warning
that it was designed for an older operating system when I first
installed it from the website, but I have been using it for 3 months
now with no problem.
