For those who can afford to play dollar machines, playing penny 100-play
might be really boring. The lesser downside volatility goes along with a
lesser upside volatility, meaning you can't win much either!
Playing penny 100-play is approximately equivalent to playing a 13c single
line machine, variance-wise. In other words, even single line quarter
players will see much bigger long-term bankroll swings than the 1c 100-player.
To each his own, but I'd much rather play dollar single line, especially
since you'd probably put through at least twice as much per hour.
OTOH, if you were playing off free play, and wanted to keep as close to the
original amount as possible, the 1c 100-play might be a good choice! Or if
you were just playing "for fun," which I know a few people do
occasionally.
