I would guess that might be about right. I do know you earn points
slowly although I didn't keep accurate track (remember I was on drugs
the last 5-hour session!!!). There are two factors here to influence
your speed. Most wise players will slow down on any MS because you
are switching between 4 strategies constantly!!!! I am already
speeding up a little just from quite a bit of experience in playing MS
- but at the beginning, I was very slow. It takes a lot more
thought than playing one strategy on, for example, $1 Five Play - $25
coin in per hand just like on quarter Five Play Multi-Strike.
Frugal VP was a crucial tool for getting the strategies down pat. My
recommendation is to spend a lot of time practicing these strategies.
It's really not as bad as it seems though. If you already have the
optimal FP strategy down cold then the top line and free ride
strategies are already taken care of. A useful thing to remember is
that strategy for lines 1 & 2 favors promotion whereas line 3 leans
towards true FP. If you keep this in mind you'll be able to reason it
out on those unfortunate occasions when the dog ate the strategy card.
Secondly, you are playing all 4 lines more frequently than on
single-line MS. I think I heard someone say that Bob Dancer says you
will get to the top line about half the time. That takes away some of
the "disappointment" of single line MS - but remember you can easily
get to the top line with just one of the five hands - and you can
"win" less on the whole hand than your original bet.
Just a warning in passing since you mentioned single-line MS. As was
pointed out to me by Howard Stern in a previous discussion thread, the
paytables for single-line MS are shorted. Although I habitually check
paytables this nuance somehow got past me. At no time should anyone
operate under the presumption that single-line MS is an equivalent
substitute for a non-MS FP single line machine.
