Playing Short Coin - Dangerous OR Smart?
If you're talking to me, no, I was happy about winning $2500, but certainly NOT happy about the circumstances. I also have to admit it was rather embarrassing to have that happen in the presence of other people in high limit.

Since I initiated the topic I wanted to add an opinion at this point. Many thanks to all who contributed over the last few days.
There are clearly two opposing views. But they approach the situation from such different perspectives that to me they seem to be on different "wavelengths".
It is true that $2500 is a win for the $10 royal played with one coin. Of course it is better than a smaller win, and it absolutely beats a losing bet.
But almost every player I know (even the most mathematically proficient) would view that specific occurrence as nothing less than devastating. About the only thing I would consider worse is short-coining Megabucks and losing millions that could have changed your whole family's life forever.
But the "you still got paid" attitude works for some. Indeed, I was playing Caribbean Stud once, a change of pace from VP. I got distracted between hands and forgot to play the $1 Progressive as usual.
Sure enough, I was promptly dealt Four Sevens. I moaned, eventually winning even money back but no $500.
The dealer's flippant response to my dismay:
"You still got paid, sir".
Whatever.
