I seem to recall reading somewhere that some VP expert goes to a
different casino to play VP on the day he (or she) is checking out of
a casino. Of course, I don't recall where I read it or any of the
specifics, but I think it had something to do with having a reduced
amount of play on that day and that reduced play could hurt your
comps. I'd appreciate any insights (or opinions) on this subject. We
normally check-out around mid-day and always try to have a last little
run at the machines before we go. Now I'm wondering if this is
actually hurting us.

Playing on "check-out" day.
I never play after midnight on my last day at a casino where I want to maintain a good average . One way around this problem is if you have a spouse and the spouse has a different account, play on the spouses account. I don't care what any host tells you, playing a short session can't help you , but it could hurt you. Yes a good host will take this all into account, but what if your host leaves the employment of the casino that you like and a new "by the book" rookie host takes over?

We used to have the same problem at Nevada Landing in Jean. We'd go from
Wed. early afternoons and leave Fri. mornings. Even though we were there
less than 48 hours, they considered it a 3-day trip. We complained about it
til the cows came home, but they wouldn't budge on our daily averages. We
finally just wouldn't play on Fridays before we went home.

This is the reason that I was encouaging people to report the time period that the different casinos used for "slot club days". Tom Sims has been gracious to add this to the vpFREE database for each casino as reported.
The same situation occurs on "arrival day" if you arrive late in the day, for example 10:00 pm and the slot day runs from 12:01 am to 11:59 pm. Then you only get 2 hours of play for the first day and thus a low point day! This will affect your daily trip average.
I've also stopped checking my point total on check-out day for fear that this might register as a zero point day and affect my trip average play.
If anyone knows the time period that the casino slot clubs base their play on and it is not in the database, please let Tom know so that he can add it.
