Playing Harrahs SL

I will be heading to St Louis on business in May and plan to Visit
Harrahs. I have a few questions for some of the locals. I checked
the data base and if it is correct there are only two full pay $1.00
VP machines at Harrahs, a 10/7/239 DB and a 10/6/239 DDB. What does
the 239 mean and where are these machines located? Secondly, does
Harrahs SL have a diamond lounge? And lastly, If I am staying at a
down town hotel, and don't have a car, what is the best way to get
to Harrahs? As a fellow VP player from New England I would
appreciate any help I can get

Thanks in advance,

Mike G.

I'm pretty sure that it means that the hands that would normally pay 250 betting units x $5.00 full-coin = $1,260.00 and a tax form ... have been reduced to 239 betting units x $5.00 full-coin = $1,195.00 and _NO_ tax form. This means fewer interruptions in your game, etc. for relatively common hands.

You are apparently looking at the Mid West Index page,
and haven't clicked on the Harrah's page.

Here's the DataBase entries on the Harrah's page:

< 10/7/239 DB (100.1%) >
(1) $1 (5 - K quads pay 239) on the Mardi Gras side.

< 10/6/239 DDB (100.1%) >
(1) $1 (5 - K quads pay 239) on the Mardi Gras side.

You don't want to stay at a "downtown" hotel if your
play will be primarily at Harrah's. Find a map of the
St. Louis area. Find the city of St. Charles, which
is west of St. Louis along I-70. See how far your
drive will be from downtown St. Louis.

If you MUST stay in downtown St. Louis for other
reasons, you'll do better to play at the Casino Queen
across the river from the Arch (sort of).

If hockeystl is watching this forum, he's the best
person I know to answer your questions about the VP
machines at Harrah's.

The database is accurate. There is also (1) $1 NSUD.

Secondly, does
Harrahs SL have a diamond lounge?

Yes. It's temporarily located down the hall from the valet cashier.
It's ok, but not as good as other Diam lounges. They normally put out
a couple hot food selections in the evenings. Unlike Ameristar STC,
they do not comp drinks.

The new Diamond lounge is set to open on April 15th.

And lastly, If I am staying at a
down town hotel, and don't have a car, what is the best way to get
to Harrahs?

Unless you want to cab it (expect a $30 to $35 fare each way), I
think you're SOL.

There is one other option you might want to look in to. Take the
Metrolink from downtown to the airport, then call Harrahs for a
shuttle pickup. They used to pickup anyone at the airport, but I
heard the new GM (the same one responsible for gutting the .25 VP
inventory!) put a stop to this unless you had a hotel reservation.

To respond to the other poster, yes the FP PE is gone. There is NO
fullpay .25 games at Harrahs now. There are (3) .25 machines that you
could play in a pinch : (1) 8/5 Bonus, (1) 9/7 DB and (1) 8/5 AF.

As you enter Harrahs STL there are 2 casinos, on the right is the
Mardi Gras casino, it has 3 near full pay machines in a circle on
the right side of the casino in the High limit poker area, they are
all multi denom games $1, $2, $5. There is NSUD at 99.7%, Dbl Bonus
239-10-7 99.8%, and Dbl Dbl Bonus 239-10-6 99.7%, on the 2 bonus
games all Str Flushes and 4 of Kinds pay 239 for slightly short pay.

As you enter and go to the left is the Island casino and it has at
least one (maybe more, be careful) multi denom, (.25, .50, $1, $2)
Triple Dbl Bonus 9-7 99.6% (very volitile game) all of these games
and most of the other machines are now TITO, be careful as Missouri
has the $500 buy in limit per casino per 2 hours. You can put $400
into a machine and move around your ticket(s) but if you go over the
$400 buy in you can not spit out your ticket and put it in another
machine, I recommend that you buy in the last $100 during the last
10 min of the session time (every 2 hours starting at 8am on the
mardi gras, and starting 11am on the island casino) both casinos
close at 4:30am weekdays and are open from fri morning to 4:30am mon
morning. Also you cannot take a ticket from one side/casino to the
other, but you can save/accumulate tickets for each side. Missouri
is not very tourist, or high roller friendly. Good Luck.
