Playing 2 Machines

I can't generate flatulence at will, but I can certainly make the
person next to me miserable with my cigar.

i'm sure you can. and this brings us to the absolute best reason to
play two machines: preventing smokers from sitting down next to you. i
rarely play two machines, but when i do, i'm certainly not giving up
one of them before ensuring that the prospective player isn't going to
make my life miserable with polluted air.

"very rude?" perhaps, but so is lighting up near people who don't want
to breathe smoke. "but smoking is allowed by the casino - if you don't
like it, tough." true. and if playing two machines is allowed by the
casino...?

cheers,

I agree. However, don't expect if you sit at a machine next to a smoker for

If I asked a player to give up one of his machines, I wouldn't be
offended if he asked mr not to smoke in return. Of course, I don't
smoke so others might prefer to not play rather then not smoke.

I agree. However, don't expect if you sit at a machine next to a

smoker for

them to stop because you just sat down.

I have had several tell me they are allowed to smoke in the casino so
quit complaining. My response is yes they have the right to smoke,
however they do not have the right to let their smoke go onto me. If
they do not understand, I will call security to have it explained to
them. Or show me where that right is granted in writing. That
usually takes care of it.

Frankly, security if confronted with that situation are stuck. They
know the smoker has the right to smoke. They also know that they do
not have the right to let blow/drift onto me. So they usually will
try to mediate it.

Only once has it got that far and that was in Biloxi

Agreed! A few months ago, I was at a bartop in the early morning hours. Lots of open seats. A woman was sitting two seats to my left with no one sitting next to her on either side. I was smoking (I always leave my cigarettes and matches in plain view). A second woman (the first woman's friend) arrives and sits between us. A few minutes later she asks me to move my ashtray away (it was on my right!!) I wanted to ask her, "It's obvious I'm smoking -- why don't you sit on the other seat next to your friend?" (I moved my ashtray an inch or two, and the two women left soon after.) Moral: if you don't like smokers, don't sit next to one, especially since they were there first!

May I assume that when you sit down near someone you always ask if they mind if you smoke? And if they say yes you either refrain or move?

Actually, I have had more than one person ask me if
I mind if they smoke. Since I am a non-smoker and
I really do mind, I always answer, "I would prefer that
you didn't."

So far, not one of these people have ever lit up after
asking me.

What kind of person would ask their neighbor if they
mind and then still smoke, regardless of the answer?
