Is it at all possible for player tracking software to influence the
order of the cards being dealt? I sure do miss a lot of one card draws.
player tracking software
Nope. Remember, you AVERAGE 1/47 1 card draws. That gives room for a LOT of misses and you perceive you've missed more than you have unless you keep good records.

I am on one of those really bad 4 to Royal streaks. I have not hit any this year on single line dollars which is what I play the most. I estimate I have had between 700 and 800 draws this year. The only other time I have had a loosing year I had a similar streak. Last year I had 8 at this time of the year.
I also had 3 flopped last year, 0 this year. So goes the luck of video poker.......

Currently working on 0-190 any one card draw to a RF. That's about a 2% chance of happening, but...also I have over 200 scares with no wild on Joker Games (single line), over 100 since my last 5K, about 150 scares with no royal playing $5 Jacks, and something like 26 SF's with no royal playing $5 Jacks (you make a royal every 5th SF on average). And of my 23-24 dealt royals, only three came on multi-line machines.
I'm still making money in 2009 at VP.
No doubt, the royals will come in those spots, but the trick is not to become too obsessed over it. Some would say, and maybe correctly so, that posting this stuff is being a little obsessed. But, when you deal in large numbers, and your income is based on an event which at single line, happens about every 40 hours or so, pretty much anything can and will happen.

Yes, video poker can have its share of illogical events.
I played 25 $1 hands (on a 50 play machine) and later a $5 3 Play game, both Deuces Wild.
On both machines I was dealt a hand containing 3 deuces which was not a pat 5K or wild royal.
So in which game did I draw the fourth deuce?
Results: In the $1 25 play game I didn't get a fourth deuce in any of the hands. And the entire game wasn't even close to being a taxable jackpot. So, I didn't draw much of anything else, either. I was far below the expected value of around $14 for 3 dealt deuces.
But what about the $5 3 play game?
I did draw the fourth deuce.
In all three hands.
And (though not related to the payoff) 2 of the 3 hands contained the same 5K, 4 Deuces plus a queen of clubs. Therefore, I drew the same card (a deuce) in 3 out of 3 hands and the same 2 cards in 2 out of 3 hands.
I was disappointingly below average in one case, incredibly lucky in another. Same guy, same level of skill, etc.
Yes, there is no sense to the game sometimes. As you say it's best not get too obsessed. Take the good with the bad, and vice versa.
Wouldn't surprise me if You hit 2 royals in the same day to end your dry spell. Be sure to share that good news with us.
I'm sure it must seem like a lot to you, but is it really 700 to 800 whiffs? Let's look at the math. You can expect to be dealt RF4 about once every 2,765 hands. So in order to get 700 - 800 chances, you would have to play about 2 million hands. Since you play mostly single line, that works out to about 260,000 hands per month or more than 8,000 hands per day, every day during 2009.
I'm sure your streak is bad and I'm not trying to say otherwise. Only that it is not quite as bad as you think.

So, if you had 4 to the Royal occur 700 times and missed them all, that would be a 1 in 3.45 million occurrence. Even going 0 for 400, the chances are 1 in 5445. Rare events make for some strange statistics but either you are incredibly unlucky or the record keeping isn't quite as accurate as you think.

My record Keeping is pretty accurate. I chart every days play as I have done for he last 7 years. Math is one thing, reality is another.
Although I did not chart all the misses, I lost count around April at 350. There was on week I remember I had 35 whiffs for about 15 hours of play. That is way over the average.
Hopefully I a can hit a few before the end of the year and change my luck..... Thanks for all the number crunching.

There is no way the post was accurate. No one can play that many hands.
