What time does the hot seat promotion start? This may be a case where
the early bird does catch the worm. This hot seat promotion reminded me
of a similar promotion that a Carson City smallish casino was running.
I was there a cold midweek winter night, and they were advertising a
hot seat late night promotion. Every 30 minutes from 12 AM to 2 AM they
would select a playing gambler to spin the wheel for cash. The place
was just about empty when the first name was draw....it was me! I went
over and spun the wheel for $20 cash. As I wandered back to my machine,
I walked around the casino, and counted only 4 players, and one of them
was getting ready to leave. I figured I had a chance to run the table
on this promotion. About 10 minutes before the next name was drawn, I
counted only one other "player", as the usual local drunks at the bar
did not count. The employees outnumbered the customers. When the time
came and went, I checked with the gal that was running the promotion,
and she said the promotion was canceled. Too bad! Oh, earlier in the
evening I also entered their $250 VP tournament (free entry). There
were only 6 people playing in the tournament, and I was surprised they
went through with it.. Sadly, I could not hit a thing, and actually
ended up out of the money.

I believe this August version of the Hot Seat promo runs High Noon to 10 pm
every half an hour...$2k total payout. I have walked the floor before a few
minutes before a similiar promo and counted about 40 players in the 20,000 sq ft
casino. Of course more folks do show up peaking at around 100, then thinning
out.

You can't beat a surprise rack of Silver. Pioneer still has plenty of
machines that you can feed coins. They have new Game Kings, but no TITO. So any
cashout is a handpay on these guys. Good thing there is nothing worthwhile to
play on these machines.

MY favorite promo like this at the Pioneer is the Pick Doc's Hoppers promo.
You get drawing tickets. They pull your name, you pull a machine number.
They empty the hopper and go count it. You and anyone playing that machine get
the $$$. Of course they have a minimum amount like $25.
