Pioneer Laughlin

April-May newsletter just arrived, includes front-page claim that they have more 100%+ vp than any other Laughlin casino, based on a survey by an independent company... recently expanded the number of machines with nothing but 100%+ paytables to 21... available themes are Deuces Wild, Joker Poker, One Eyed Jacks, Double Bonus Poker, Double Double Bonus Poker, Double Bonus Poker Plus.

I can confirm 16 upright machines by the entrance to the Keno Korral with
the games listed below in quarters. Half-dollar games are DB, DDB, and DB+
only. Each machine has a notice that it is "not eligible for Double Time."
I assume Pioneer regulars understand what that means, because I don't.

Sorry, I'm too late to break this news, so I'll just add what I know:

There are 16 upright machines very well marked by the change booth across from the Round Up club. Can't claim card of the day even if a natural quad while playing wild cards. Only $.25 and $.50 denom, and only DB, DDB, and DB+ at $.50. My FPDW was a little rusty, but I did hit the ducks once. Only good hit at vp for the weekend.

In other news, Harrah's still $10/base reward credit at VP. I earned no, zero, zilch bonus reward credits on 50-play, but did earn some bonus in high limit on $1. They've really thinned the number of machines in non-smoking, but all vp seems to be intact. Didn't make it into the diamond lounge.

Group members,

I will be in Laughlin Sunday through possibly Wednesday,
(Mar 29th-Apr 1st), but we might leave Tuesday night. We are
staying at Harrahs and playing 2 days of golf with luch provided
each day. It is not a tournament, but the offer is for 1 round
Monday at Laughlin Ranch and 1 round Tuesday at Mohave Resort,
which is AVI's course.
I am going with 2 friends and one is hoping to do DIAD on
this trip using the 50 play JoB machines. I guess we will see
if that much play on those machines earn any bonus points.
He said he might do some of his play on the $1 9/6 machines
if he feels comfortable with his bankroll after some 50 play.
He is not playing golf and 2 of us can help him with his task
around golf. So as far as time, his task should not be two
difficult. Now money risk difficulty is something else. I think
his plan is to divide $1,200 into 3 parts and give $400 to each
of us. He does not expect to lose all of this bankroll, but he
is aware of the risk.
After helping him with his goal, I could check out anything
in Laughlin that is brought to my attention. Do you think there
will be the usual high winds for golf? We live in the Phoenix
area and we had unusually high winds last night. Maybe a one
of their weather fronts blew through last night.

Just curious if the golfing was ok (winds make it more challenging!).
Also - how'd the DIAD go?

Last time, my friend was considering 7*, and blew $1k in an hour.
I think the 7* dream went out the door on that session...

Although it's 9/6, 50x your plays seems to have bigger bankroll swings, which I hope your buddy was prepared for.
I was nearly -900 myself on 30K, but pulled out a single-line .25 RF to break 'even' on the attempt.

BTW - My buddy and I seemed to notice that BONUS RCs do accrue/albeit slowly, and dependant upon factors such as LENGTH of time spent actually playing; Also - more bonus RCs seem to accrue at a rate of 1.5 to 2 to 1, after you earn a base 500 in any one day... Just FYI. Perhaps on $1 machine VP, though, very little RCs. I haven't played those enough ;-).

Locals do get more 'multiplier' days for those bonus RCs.

Martin.

His Diamond in a Day was completed, but not successfully.
We played the 3rd, 4th & 5th- 50 play machines, counting
from the most right machine if facing the river. Only the
4th and 5th were available for a while. John, who was going
for his DIAD was on the 4th and I was helping him on the 5th.
Later, another friend Tim, helped him on the 3rd machine.
We put 1,300 tier points on the 5th, 1,200 on the 4th and
500 on the 3rd. All machines earned a few bonus points, but
not enough to matter.

John lost about $800 dollars. John and I were in the red
almost immediately. We were down $400 with only about 500
points earned and this was very disappointing. He switched
to $.10 ($25 a hand) for a while and was fortunate to be
dealt a flush at that level. A little while later my machine
dealt 4 jacks. These 2 hands got John ahead about $200 and
he felt better. Gradually this advantage disappeared.
He decided to again switch to the $.10 version and was
immediately dealt a straight. I suggested that he take this
bonus and move back to the nickle version, but those two successes "warped" his expectations. Unfortunately John lost
more - too fast at $.10 and went about $400 down before going
back to $.05. We knew this made a total success less likely,
but conserving his bankroll now was more important. Tim could
join us later on machine #3. Both Tim and I got one royal,
but obviously not dealt. Sadly, John never has had a royal
and fate did not provide it on whatever machine he was playing.
John and I switched machines sense he thought my was "hotter".
Yeah right, I do not think he was serious, but there is also
no harm in
this.

We completed the task in a few hours (maybe 4) while joking
around and having fun at the same time. It was sad to see
John's final results, but he can handle it. We then went to
get his new Diamond card and headed to the Diamond Lounge
with a "new" goal to eat and drink $800 in value that night!
Well, that is another story of someone's attempt to complete
DIAD on the 50 play machines in Laughlin!

Now golfing was something else. 20-30 mile cold wind gusts
at Laughlin Ranch. That course is on top of the little
mountain you see when looking east across the river. My
friend, Tim. had not played the course and he liked it in
spite of the weather. The had a barbecue lucn afterwards
and all you could drink while playing. Not enough hot
chocolate or coffee was available considering the conditions!

The weather for the next day was suppose to be better and the
second course, Mohave Desert, is on the river level. However,
an emergency at home caused me to leave Laughlin around 5:00
PM on Monday. John could have replaced me at golf, but others
decided to come home Tuesday morning and skip golf. I guess
losing $800 took a lot of fun out of the trip for John. Tim's
wife Fran hit a $4,000 royal and made about $5,000 on the trip
so that couple went home happy. She usually does not play $1
JoB so that made it even better John and Susie went home with
a new Diamond Card, but probably with about $1,000 less dollars.
John also was could not resist also playing so $1 JoB after
Fran's luck.

My emergency at home, while very serious, so far has a good
ending. There are still some complications that could happen,
but it appears that everything will be okay. I had no choice
but to cut my trip short, but now, even knowing the final
results, not leaving early was not a choice. It basically
caused my to "stiff" Harrahs. I gambled only a small amount
and actually made $185 before the phone call. I let my host
know of the reason for almost "no play" but that will not
matter much. The old ADT average is going to take a "big hit"
and that is all that basically matters in the Harrahs system.
