DOUBLE JACKPOTS were in force two weeks ago however the 100% game were not included nor were a lot of other machines including 9/6 JOB and Aces & Faces. The extra 25% when using your points for free play sounds good to me. The 100% games will accept free play (got drawn for a $100.00 in free play in April and ran it into $157.50 at FPDW).
As others have reported, the 35 100% machines are getting very little play -- but then a lot of the other machines are also vacant. Four of the 35, the four on the east wall in the southwest portion of the casino, have absolutly terrible graphics -- potted plants would be better.
Wife and I went down to the AVI for the first time -- this place was busy! It was late afternoon mid-week. So why so busy? I think because they offer a lot of low denomination reel & VP (short pay of course). I remember a half dozen or so 5 cent joker machines (short pay) at the River Palms a couple years back that were always busy. Well then why haven't the Laughlin casinos put in some low denoms? After all, a non-professionals money should last five times longer on a nickel machine than on a quarter machine (well, four times as long considering short pay). Somebody can correct on this but I believe there is an annual state and/or federal tax or fee on a machine which may not be applicable in the "apartied" areas of our country.
The AVI was offering 2fer1 Thusdays and Saturdays at their buffet for club members (wife & I are both now members) and they have Win Cards (can be used once a month). The buffet was good (not super, just good).

Now they show right on the front page a listing of casinos with the 'best' vp in town, proudly displaying their 35 machines!
CB/EW follow with 8, and after that, not much else in the 100% base ev category.
Also ad stating $1.25 freeplay for $1 converted pts value....
DOUBLE JACKPOTS (supposedly) returning....
We'll see how all of this pans out and whether or not the 100% return games will be excluded or not...
