I saw a sign last visit (on change booth counter across from slot
club), that stated "$1 for 200 points".

Per vpFree website, it was $1/320 pts.

It does still take approx $4/coin in VP to make 1 pt,
so I guestimate this at .125%, which is better than .078%!

I'll try to check things out more thoroughly on my return trip this
weekend and next.....

On multi-pts days, and C.O.D. (125 coin) bonus days,
that makes it more decent.

We'll see what's ahead for the 'ol' Pioneer.

PS: Summer VideoPoker tournaments (W/Fri) are over,
but I saw a new article/recent Oct newsrag
that lists 20 pts earned WED/Fri eligible for their VP tournaments.
Thurs. 20 pts is good for a SLOT tournament.

These are fun to play in, esp. if you happen to be playing anyways on
Wed. - Fri.

Martin.

I am still waiting for my October Round-up to show up. But the online
calendar has something in Doc Holliday's column about improved cashback. Also on
this page it states October Getaway nights (3) can be used on weekends. I guess
they are hurting for warm bodies.

When I did the VP tourney at the end of September Barbara, the gal that runs
things claimed the five year run of tourneys was over. She was retiring too.
They were fun to do over the years adding about $7 in worth per tourney. I
cashed several times in the first half of this year, but never have finished
higher than fourth place lifetime.

You have to use your PIN to look at comps now. It was .25% for comps, but
they have not done a double point/comp day in awhile. It looks like the Four to
a Royal promo is gone too.

They have some tougher rules now in the Booze and Butts store in regards to
using comps.

My last visit, I could see cutbacks and changes going on at the
Pioneer. Sassy Sue's closed early one night. The bartender said "last
call" and he was gone. Also, I believe I had the last glass of draft
Chimay on my first night of the trip. They said it was just too
expensive (very true), and had no plans to reorder.

The free VP tournaments and slot tournaments are history as
mentioned. Too bad, as that was a fun one to do in the mornings.

The Booze and Butts store had some changes as graytleegray mentioned.
$5 Max use of comps (was $10), and you have to purchase more than $20
to even use the comps. Just another cutback.

I received my Roundup newsletter, and didn't read anything about a
new improved comp/cashback policy, but maybe I better go back and
read it again. Doc Holladay did mention that September had been a
rough month with the economy and some glitches it the TITO conversion.
Oh, for all you hat people (?) they have a 40% off coupon in the
newsletter. I don't think I will use that one.

The Pioneer is not the only place with cutbacks. We were informed by
several employees over at the EW/CB that 200 people had just been
laid off. 100 at each place.

This seems to be going everywhere in the gaming industry, as I read
about closures and cutbacks everywhere.

You don't need a hat because you still have all those from the CB
promos, right? Can I borrow the viking helmet?

Ha-Ha Yes those days of wearing all those silly hats at the Belle
waiting for the prize patrol to come and shower you with "gifts". I
remember the pilgrims hat, the plastic green Irish hat, the bunny ears
hat (loved the cute gals wearing that one) and more. The hats are
gone, but I still have some Captain Bob "Bob L Heads" laying around. I
gave one away at a Christmas White Elephant gift deal. Captain Bob is
still around. He has changed his persona- and is now Couch Potato Bob
over at the Tropicana.

You better finish that art work before the paint dries out. It might be
too late for the contest, but I am sure it will look great hanging over
the fireplace.

"His current get-up and stage is for Monday Night Football over at the Trop
Express. He wears his hard hat with the beer cans/straws endowment. They got a
couch for him with a flat screen TV over by the slot club. He is giving away
$50 a point in kiosk driven MNF drawings."

That's a good picture of him! I wonder how 'Hallow'eened' he'll be as the month rolls on?

PS - For those who like such things, the TROPICANA currently has it's holiday 'horror' decor out. The VIP area is crawling with fake spiderwebs, and large sized creatures,
some missing arms, and such.

I particularly liked chatting with the 2 Aliens by the Eclipse/Sushi bar...
