Pick'Em Poker Picks Pappy's Pocket

Spent about nine hours in Casino Windsor Thursday. Met up with
Jerry, a fellow vpFree member. Jerry and I played dollar Pick'Em for
most of the time, he did all right,(he hit a royal playing Double
Bonus the day before) but I got creamed.
Lost the first $400 in about 45 minutes. Then spent the rest of
the day slowly losing another $900. Did get to listen to some good
music at the bar later in the day though. (most expensive concert
tickets I ever paid for) The band was called "Bomb Squad" and they
were good. They played a mix of soul and Motown music that had me
tapping the buttons in time with the drummer.
Oh, well, I've had worse days and probably will have days like it
again. If you want to dance, you have to pay the piper. But $1300!!
I kept track of the hands that I got. Here's the results of about
6-7 hours play:

   RF-0
   SF-0
   4-0
   FH-7
   FL-9
   ST-25
   3-96
   DEALT 3 OF A KIND-14
   DEALT 3 TO A ROYAL-20

I have to go now, I'm busy trying to tie a hangman's noose. Lets
see, make a knot, then wrap the rope around the....

Sorry you tanked. I did in Vegas last week and left early.

How do you keep track of your hands? Do you just remember them??

Thanks for the words of sympathy. But, after a good night's sleep,
and because of my very bad selective gambling memory, I can't
remember a thing about Thursday's results.

Sitting for hours and punching buttons while playing video poker
can be quite boring and monotonous so I always keep track of what
hands I get. I usually carry a notebook and pen with me to record
all the hands and also to write down any of old VP Pappy's wit and
wisdom if they occur. It helps break up some of that monotony.

"By the time I realized that the best part of my gambling session
had arrived, it had already left." ---VP Pappy

Once in a while a floor person will come over and look over my
shoulder to see what Im writing, but they don't really care a bit.
They just think that I'm one of the ignorant masses who hasn't a clue
how to play the games correctly and is playing some kind of wierd
system and will soon be broke just like most of the other players.
And you know what, sometimes they're right.

When I get home later, I go over my notes to see how far off I was
over the norm for the game I was playing. For instance, I guess I
played about 5,000 hands Thursday playing Pick'Em and, in a perfect
video poker gambling world, I should have gotten the following:

               EXPECTED ACTUAL SHOULD HAVE HAD

FOUR OF A KIND-- 1 EVERY 2360 HANDS (APPROX) 0 2

FULL HOUSE " 424 " 7 10

FLUSH " 313 " 9 15

STRAIGHT " 197 " 25 25

3 OF A KIND " 33 " 96 150

So you can see that with results like that, there was no way I was
going to win.

"No matter how much of a "genius" you are, you're more likely to
lose than win when gambling." --Andrew Brisman

Good luck all, TM & VP
