My # 2. Peeve involves casinos who utilize the "Max Bet" button to
take more than 5 coins (in some cases, FIVE TIMES 5 coins) from an
unwary player. Most players do not realize that the "Bet 5 Coins"
button must be activated first, and then, after that, either
the "Deal" button or the "Bet 5 Coins" button must be hit with each
deal. This causes many players who are in the habit of always
hitting the Max Coin button, to bet more than they intended to bet.
Mohegan Sun, CT, has several banks of VP machines that do this...it's not bad
enough that it's pretty much a wasteland for .25 vp players (except for some
full pay Pick Em), many of them have a bet max button that can go up to 100
coins! I was with someone last month that hit the bet max button; I suggested
they call an attendant before the hand was dealt. The attendants told them
that there was nothing they could do about it because the machines were ticket;
they did say that when they paid off in coin they were able to override the
bet. I have been guilty of hitting the play max button once or twice - somehow,
I never have a winner when that happens:( Good topic!
