In the past two years we have had 6 RF's which is very close to what one
would would expect for the amount we have played. Mine have all been in
a Casino, however two of my partner's were while practicing on the
computer. She does practice more that I do. How do others feel about
computer play, is it a part of the
"long term game" we all play? Are there others
out there that wonder if a royal in practice is one that you missed in
actual play?

It is not a factor. The hands we are dealt are independent events. This
is not a subjective issue, so the way people 'feel' about it is not
relevant.

I agree with you that there are RF cycles, but not personal RF cycles. IOW,
just because you hit a RF yesterday at home has no bearing on whether or not
you will hit one in a casino tomorrow. The deviations in the normal expected
distribution of RFs is what determines their frequency and deviations are
unpredictable.

Each hand of VP is totally random, at least in regulated states. The machine doesn't know what hand it dealt five seconds ago or five hours ago. I've heard of people hitting two royals within a couple hours, but I've never been lucky enough to have it happen to me.
You are not predestined to hit a certain number of royals in your playing career. Some people will hit more, some less. The odds will average out over all the players and machines in the universe. Hitting one on Win Poker won't subtract from your total in a casino.
I've played more than 80,000 hands on my Win Poker and never hit a royal. Fortunately, my luck in the casinos is a little better.
Blessings and royals to all.

"Cycle" is an unfortunate choice of terms, but it's now a common part
of VP terminology so we're stuck with it. The better term is
"average", as in "the average number of hands it takes for a given
hand to occur". A royal cycle of roughly 40,000 hands simply means
that's the long-term statistical average. One time it may be only
3000 hands between your royals, another time 130,000. By the time
you've racked up dozens of those puppies, you'd find your average
getting pretty close to the cycle (roughly 40,000, depending on the
games and strategies employed).

Very well said, altho I think it might often take more than a dozen events
for the average to emmerge. Usually, the smaller the sample the higher the
varience.

(Let me re-submit that last post. I apologize for the atrocious spelling)

My mother once hit 2 royals abt 1/2 hr apart on the same machine and a
friend of mine who plays short coin much of the time hit 2 royals abt 15
hands apart . One with 1 coin and one with 3 coins. Luckily they were on the
1-100 proportional .25 machines they used to have a bank of near Madame
Chings at TI.

A coworker recently hit three nickel royals at the Rampart on her
lunch hour.
