Fri nite to Mon nite.
$178 R/T from Seattle on Southwest. No travel probs.
Limo wasn't at the Reno airport, so I called the Pepps bell via the hotel phones near the
last baggage carousel. No record of my reso, but they said someone else was getting a
limo same time, would I mind sharing? 'Course not. Nice partyin' couple, only we were in a
"Bell Limo" co. limo. Pepps offloads limo service when their limos get over-scheduled. I
also heard Pepps lost a limo when it caught on fire! From the inside! That's all I heard, no
details. Forgot to ask about it at the bell.
I check in at VIP, rooms not quite ready, so I go gamble, what else. I find my friends on
the floor- workin' the 'DDB' bank near blue keno/sports book. 6 machines with 25c/50c/
$1 10/6 DDB + prog RF on the $1's. One of my friends hit it earlier in the day for $4350
or so. Wow.
I go back, check into 671- a corner imperial suite. What I don't notice until I took off my
shoes that night is the carpet is sopping wet! Like, a overflowing toilet running 6 hours, or
a leak under the floor somewhere. I can't believe they gave me this room! One, small
token tip for housekeeping all weekend. Maintenance brought in a portable blower that I
put on HIGH whenever I left the room, but it never dried it up. Crazy. I had flip-flops that
I wore when navigating around the wet patch. Asked why I didn't demand a new room, I
told my friends I didn't care. Could be worse. I must really be low-maintenance.
So, Day 1, I dine on marachino drink cherries, nothing else. Gaming from 4:20PM to
4:20AM. I lose my $170 freeplay to 50c DDB, then get back to my published plan. A
steady drain all the way thru 50c DDB. Oh- I got quad As on the 25c BP with the $12500
seq RF. Gave it back later. I play 50c JoB 3-way progs at cabaret bar, in an hour session, I
hit 3 quads for 67,63 & 63 plus a SF(!) for $201. Only up 250 there. I switch back to 50c
DDB, quad T/125 and quad4+A for 400 for Up 350. Close to even for the day, I return to
25c BP., -100. I jump to 50c DDB and make it back thx to a quad 3 w/A for 400. I try
25c TplDblBonus w/ a very hi 1744 prog RF. up 50 after a quadA for $200. It's 1AM.
I get three quads worth 200, 125 & 250 in the next hour on 25c, 50c & $1 DDB, so I'm up
maybe 400 on the trip. I drop 200 or 300 on each of: 50c JoB, $1 JW, $2 JoB, $1 ACE$BP
and $1 DDB and call it at 4:20AM down almost $800 on day 1.
Day 2
I get a late 2:15 start. I play 8 sessions, four are even, 2 up a little, 2 down a little. I drift
into 5-play 25c NSUD, which is a game that can grow on ya and end up +$150 on the day
when we meet for dinner at Oceano about 7:30. Long dinner, rich food.
First stop after dinner is 50c DDB where I hit a plain quad A and a kickered quad 4 for
$400 ea. I have a cigar on 25c BP and hit a quad A. I join my friends for a rare Paigow
session and drop $100 there and flee. There was a jerk/bore/boar at our table, who
managed to ruin what is supposed to be a relaxing table game. He btched about losin, he
became the bank on a bunch of hands (legal, but it confused us), groused at the dealer,
threw his cards around a few times instead of simply folding them up, etc. I guess the pit
crew was super-apologetic to my friends when they left abruptly soon after I did (they play
an hour or two a day). Next:
50c DDB:-300
$1ACE$BP -100
$1 DDB: -200
$2 ACE$BP: -100
$2 DDB: +400 after I hit quad 7s for 500
$1 JW: -300.
25c BP: even, but got a Dealt quad 3 for $50
I switch near midnite to 5-play 25c NSUD. got a RF on one line! +1000 held 3. just like
that! yay! +800 on that machine session. I give back 250 to 50c DDB and 300 to $1 DDB
(the bar next to the VIP/concierge - my typical nightcap on the way to the room. I SHOULD
limit it to $100.) End night at 1:45AM, up 450 on the day. My friends always crash before
midnite, they get to get up early.
Day 3
11AM start. got dealt quad 4s on 50c DDB. held 4 and drew a $200 kicker 2 for $400
total. I've been enjoying my sessions at the cabaret bar, steady quads. Next highlight is a
quad A sans kicker on $1 DDB for 800, just after the sunday 1:00 Big Spin drawing. I get a
dealt flush on $1 JW, this one is also a 4SF, open. I decide to draw 1 for the SF, normally
I'd look it up on the cheat sheet in my pocket first. I hit it for 250. I show the guy next to
me, he says he gave up those damn cheat sheets years ago. THEN I look it up - and tell
him I was supposed to keep the flush. We get a big laugh. I finish off a good run with a
quad A, no kick on 50c DDB for 400.
THEN...
I joined the $35 entry no-limit Hold 'em poker tournament. Real, live poker. At my table,
one guy takes charge with some great hands, and it becomes costly to see a flop. This
tourney has a brutal structure: 10/20 blinds. 400 in chips. Luckily there's one rebuy for
600 additional chips, but by then the chip leaders make quick work of wafflers. I did win
one hand and a nice 300 pot thx to a flopped flush, but I was out in about 30 min, kinda
bad for me.
Off to 50c DDB, drop 300. I draw on one line quad wild deuces in 25c NSUD x 5 for 250,
but lose most of it back. Then, I have a great Pai Gow session, up $100. I'm playin' two
hands, $20 on each hand, $5 on the 'envy' bonus where you get paybacks on trips or
higher in your 7 cards. best hand was a fullhouse for 5-1, (with a spare pair for my low
hand), but, dealer was nice, no bores at the table, so I enjoyed it and I'll play again when I
need a break from VP.
Up 1000 on the day when I break for steakhouse dinner. Great steaks. Merlot. Lotsa
laughs.
I give back 200 ea on $1 DDB, 50c DDB, 25c NSUD x 5 and 25c DDB x5. Oh, I got a dealt
quad 2 on 50c DDB, couldn't draw the kicker, had to settle for a 200 win.
So, to this point, I'm down about 300 for the Trip, so I decide to test my Plan out fairly
tightly. I start at 25c DDB (line 3 of my plan from a separate posting), move up to 50c JoB,
lose $100 on each. Lose $200 on 50c DDB (drat, plan reads 300) I hit a quad 2 +3 kicker
for 400, but it wasn't enuf to stop playing this denom, guess. -200 on $1 JW. -800 on $1
DDB (one quad for 250). Then, a super long session on $2 JoB in the low ceiling room
between fish bar & fireside. My friends called it the refrigerator room, the A/C is blasting
chilly air, but I like that. Prog RF is at 10,695. I get 5 quads for 250 each, 3 of them
DEALT! +$800 after 90 min or so. That's a lot of coin-in.
I decide to take a step bak in my plan to $1 coin, as the $2 coin run made up for my -800
on $1 DDB and I don't have the bankroll to drag out a losing $2 run. I lose $600 at $1
DDB and ACE$BP, so it's back to $2 JoB where I lose $500 (one quad/250) and call it a
night about 5AM. 15 hrs gaming, down 1600.
Day 4
Up & out of the room, bags to bell and gaming about 1:30PM. (Late checkout). Limo reso
to airport is 6:30, so I don't stop for food.
By 3:00, I'm down 900 at $2 JoB, and I give a game try at $2 ACE$BP (-200) as I hit the
ATM for the only time on the trip. $1 DDB session is even after a quad K for 250. I see
Bob and Betty, locals and vpFree_Reno trip report readers who I met a few previous times
at Silver. Hiya!
Time to cool my jets and make the last of my money last 3 more hours. I decide I like the
50c JoB at the cabaret bar. I nurse a few Colorado Bulldogs (Kahlua, coke & cream or milk)
and hit 5 quads for 64-65 ea. until 4:30. I snag a Mr. Money card on the last one, Aces,
on the mailer coupon that I carried around but never remembered to use. Down 50 for the
session.
An Uptick for my next 2 hrs: +200 on 50c DDB (plain quad 2 for 200), +200 on $2 JoB
quad T for 250- about a ten minute session. Down 200 on $1 JW. +200 on $2 JoB thx to
quad K/250 and a DEALT quad 3 for 250. +200 on $1 DDB (no quads- hmmm). And my
last shot was on $2 ACE$BP, where, instead of the hero winning during the two-minute
drill, I dropped $350 when the time on the cashout slip read 6:24PM. 5hrs, down 900 on
the day. Smooth travel all the way to and thru airports. dropped $50 at the airport on 25c
DDB. (hit a quad on 50c DDB to stay even on 50c) yes , it's ugly 7/5 DDB, but I just wanna
hit a quad and get on my plane, so there.
When I start to drive out of my park-n-fly parkin spot, I can tell right away- i got a flat. I
change the tire in the poorly lit lot. I guess lucky it wasn't raining and lucky for me my
spare had air in it. I guess.
