Don't feel too foolish. Even though the machine shows that credit and it looks like it would give you a cash ticket if you cashed out, it will not. You must play it thru at least once and then you can cash out your balance even if it is more than the intital free play. I know this because it happened to me. I cashed out and got my ticket but did not realize that I had left free play still in the machine until the bartender chased me down and told me that I had left credit in the machine, which I did not understand because I was clutching the ticket in my hand, but it was the rest of the free play that I had not played thru.
