Peppermill Diamond Question

It's that kind of greediness that killed the Eldorado card swipe. Before
people started swiping a half dozen cards at a time, the prizes were several
orders of magnitude better than they are now. You might remember cash awards of
up to $1000. I do. Since Eldorado has taken steps to devalue the awards to
such a level that it's not worth wasting time. I've actually asked Peppermill
marketing to take out the card swipe because, as a weekender, many of the
awards are mid-week which makes them worthless & a lot of the others have a lot of
restrictions which makes them worthless. In one sense, I don't mind the
Peppermill locals' bias because the Sunday drawing ties up 4 hrs which I have
now learned to spend elsewhere. Once a quarter, I try to use all my tickets but
don't care if it expires. That's my M.O. for Eldorado's Treasures drawing
too. If I happen to be there, I'll do it but I won't go just because I've closed
a path or even 4 paths.

It's a shame that every time a decent promotion comes up, there's always
someone who tries to think of a way to gain an abnormal edge. When they use that
edge & others start copying it, the promotion is destroyed. Most people
would have hewed the line if they could see what was going to happen. But a few
don't because they're so cynical about human nature that they believe that
someone's going to cheat so they may as well be the first to do it. Just beware
when you run into this attitude because they will apply this reasoning to
any deal & do unto you first so don't be surprised when it happens.

The casinos can correct this problem by removing the specific abusers from
their comp lists which they do in a few cases. However, the most frequent
solution is to punish all the customers. When this happens it encourages the
customers who weren't part of the problem to find alternatives. Standard method
of getting customers back is to mail out incentives to return which probably
won't work well in this economy. When you ask the casinos why they don't limit
the fix to just the abusers so that they don't have to go through this cycle
to get customers back, they don't have an answer except SOP!

I'm with you but the latest batch of casino managers don't seem to
care. They keep coming out with more complicated promotions that
encourage players to gamble less and game the promotion more, if they
want to have a chance of winning some promo money. The new casino
managers are good at attracting people and generating card sign-ups
but terrible at promoting gambling, apparently that's someone else's
problem. Even worse, people who put in too much coin-in on one card
are suspected of being professionals and are too quickly 86'd or
backed off. Even Dancer admits to playing on his wife's card:

This may be the reason that you have a problem with the Peppermill, you
appear to be a scam artist who was caught by the casino.

Could be, except I only play on one card, and only swipe one card, but
I know most people have many cards, even Bob Dancer and the LVA (Las
Vegas Advisor). But, I suspect you are right, the Peppermill thinks
I'm a "scam artist" because I win too much, partly due to good luck,
partly due to good plays. But from the Peppermill's perspective, a
winner must be a scammer, right? The casino always wins, right?
Peppermill expects their customers to pay, I humbly apologize for not
paying, but for winning. I'm a gambler, but I gamble to win.

Again I state: I usually win at the Peppermill, have had a positive win-
loss statement every year since 2003 when I started going to the
Peppermill (some years much better than others) and I am still offered
great comps and treated with respect. If you would qualify your
comments as "fact" or "in my opinion", that would improve the quality
of this forum. Just because you are pissed off at the Peppermill on a
personal level should not give you free reign to trash the property as
you do. I am tired of reading your piss and moan opinion posts and wish
you would deal more with the facts in general not so much in particular.

Hi NOTI,

I'm afraid that I have to challenge your statement above.
Perhaps, if you had said, "some" people, or preferably, a
"few" people, have many cards (and play on multiple cards
as well) I could go along with your assumption. But I
seriously doubt that "most" people engage in this type of
cheating.

I do exempt married couples, or partners, who prefer to play
either on a single card (or each other's card) from any
suggestion of cheating. I believe that most casinos both
countenance and and approve of these practices. At least, that
has been my own experience.

However, of the many VP players whom I know, not one, to my
knowledge, has ever engaged in multiple card usuage i.e. having
and using more than one card, with different identies, at the
same casino.

Possibly this practice is more prevalent among a very few of the
less successful VP pros. I sincerely doubt that the respected VP
pros of my acquaintance, would consider jeopardizing their good
reputations and subjecting themselves to possibly being banned by
the casino.

Respectfully,

~Babe~

What about family members? Relatives? Close personal friends?

I have absolutely no experience with "family members (other than
spouses or partners) relatives or close personal friends", playing
on each other's cards. So I will not comment on whether this is
acceptable behavior, or even tolerated by the casinos.

IMO, playing on single card should be limited to married couples or
established partner couples who reside at the same address.
