I'm not a local so take the following with a grain of salt until someone
local can respond. I'm platinum also. On one trip I was able to swipe on the
midweek days & noticed that I received more freebie tickets than normal on Tue &
Thu & Wed was even more than Tue & Thu. I don't know if this bonus for
mid-week swipes still exists but, if it does, then extra Big Spin tickets for
being Diamond would be a very weak motivation for being Diamond unless you were a
local who could swipe for Big Spin tickets every day. On one of the
Peppermill drawing offers, I was sent a letter offering maybe 500 - 600 tickets for
my tier level which seemed very good until I got there & noticed that other
people also had letters with a lot of tickets on it. Even the lower card levels
had a couple of hundred tickets. I felt suckered. In the old days when the
bonus for gold was only 4/day, I used to get called about once/quarter
attending 2 drawings/quarter. Since the drawings went electronic, I've been at the
higher platinum level but I haven't been called at all. I'm guessing that the
extra tickets that I'm getting due to higher level & more gambling is more
than offset by the fact that even locals with lower tier levels can accumulate
more tickets due to the higher bonuses now & if they swipe on a daily basis.
For out-of-towners like me, we usually have a better chance under systems
where ticket awards were based solely on the gambling done in a short, specific
period of time. Since Peppermill's system allows accumulation of tickets
over a quarter the best time for out-of-towners to participate in drawings is at
the beginning of a quarter (when locals don't have enough time to use the
accumulation advantage they have over out-of-towners). Similarly, the
Peppermillions drawings also have a built-in locals bias since only people who swipe
frequently have a chance of ever spelling it. I've only spelled it once but
that was due to a special weekend where you could earn extra letters through
play but by this time all the higher prizes were taken by people who had
already spelled it. I got $100 for it. So to put it all in a nutshell, Peppermill's
system has a big locals bias which you should exploit but I don't think that
should be your motivation for going to diamond.

How many daily Big Spin tickets do you get as a Diamond? I'm Platinum
and get 20 every day I swipe at the kiosk. I'm looking at benefits
between Platinum and Diamond when you are a local and don't have hotel
stays.
