peppermill coupon policy change

New policies at the Pepp seemed designed to piss off their good customers.
What were they thinking:

$50 coupon to high end restaurants. Prices have been recently raised.
After meal, left Steak House to get a comp to supplement the coupon. Chatted
with boothling about high prices and need for additional comp. Waiter informs
me that I can no longer combine comps and coupons. THEY EXPECT THEIR BEST
CUSTOMERS TO PAY CASH FOR FOOD??? So then I went and got a bigger comp and
crumpled up the worthless $50 coupon. They were aghast that I did that. Don't
you want it?

I think this was bait and switch. The only reason we went to the Pepp that
day was the coupon. We played dollar machines for several hours. I have
more than enough comps to use for whatever I want. I have no need for a coupon
that costs me money.

Hi Becky,

I'm sorry that you had a unpleasant experience at Pepp., but I'm
glad that you complained and received a full comp.

I have a question, though. Are you referring to the $50.00 coupon
that is contained in the mailer with the $50.00 matchplay etc.? If
so, are you are saying that the coupons can only be used at
the "high-end" restaurants, and not at the coffee shop?

We were able to use the $50.00 mailer coupon at the coffee shop last
month and had a very nice dinner there. I hope that this hasn't
changed.

We also noticed that the restaurant prices in ALL the Pepp eating
establishments, have taken an upward trend. This seems to be in
comjunction with a shrinkage in their VP inventory. Not a good
combo!

Regards,
~Babe~

Just got back myself (TR to follow 'soon'). Went with some friends.
Used the mailer $50 coupon two evenings for group dinners at Oceano and Steakhouse.
Split a bottle of Merlot at Steakhouse ($58), steaks & no appetizers. After-coupon bill for 3
was $130. Oceano we each had an appetizer, a 'regular' main course + one glass of wine
total. Dinner bill for 3, after coupon was $70.

When garcon brought the check, we gave him the coupon, asked him to re-run it minus
the $50. Then we charged the dinner bill to our rooms, and got them fully comped. Both
parties are Platinum.

Yes I think prices crept up. Impeccable food tho'.

And the only rule I found against double-dipping was when we tried to use two coupons at
Oceano. "one coupon per visit".

Sounds absolutely crazy to not be able to use a comp slip to cover what the coupon
doesn't.

I can feed myself on one coupon I suppose.

I certainly won't defend Pepps. There always seems to be something screwy going on.

I think there's a certain amount of turmoil during construction too.

Good to know. You're right, $50 is no longer enough for two people
eating in the nicer restaurants. I was solo and could pick the
priciest meal (the $36 Tuscan T-bone at the Italian restaurant) with
a dessert to come in just under $50. Incidentally this is one fine
steak ... a good 16oz not including the bone!

Hotel guests have the option of charging any balance above the limit
to their rooms for later comp.

Laugh ... I got a kick out of the revolving statues. At one point
it looks like the guy holding the goblet is holding up one of the
girls by her hair. Check it out next visit looking up from the
lower tier.

Perhaps you could ask for separate checks. Use the coupon for one
dinner and a comp for the other.

Separate checks works at Romanza. I politely explained to our server
the problem with the coupon when we ordered. She said no problem and
even mixed our orders to get as close to $50 without going over (my
meal, wife's drinks.) Used a comp for the second check.
