Peppermill comp rate .9%, Atlantis .6%. More value at Pepp?

All other things being equal at both properties, the Pepp seems like a
better comp value than the Atlantis. Would most of you agree??

Mike

I am certain the .9% comp rate on the database is incorrect based on
information we've gotten from our host after playing there - and we
play there a lot. We seem to consistently earn about .5% playing
exclusively VP. My understanding is that slots earns more. From what
we can determine $40=1 point, where it is $25=1 point in slots. So
10k in action is 250 points in vp and 400 points in slots. 10k in
actions equals about $50 in comps in VP and $80 in slots. So that
means 5 points = $1 in comps. I am fairly confident in these numbers.

The Atlantis,on the other hand, has no consistent comp rate. Rumors
are they operate on a theo based system where the exact game
determines the comps you earn. Others we have talked to with hosts
more open than ours have been told they have earned fewer comps on the
positive vp than on the good vp. But I would not be confident on the
.6% comp rate. The radical royal 10/7 double bonus progessive bank
almost certainly earns much less, for example. We have been told by
our host only that what you play, how long you play, and the
denomination all affects the comps.

But in answer to your question, we have found more value at the
Peppermill as a $1 player. However, when you receive mailed offers
from Peppermill, room offers are deducted from comps. At the
Atlantis, room offers are not deducted from comps. So you may find
more future value and comp value in the Atlantis. Conversely, the
bounceback appears to be more generous at the Peppermill. So it all
depends on how big you play and what you value in terms of where the
actual value is.

Interesting you said that because all of our offers from the
Peppermill (and Atlantis) specifically state that it does not come
off of our comps. When checking in (at VIP) at the Peppermill we
have been told the same thing. It does not affect our comp rate or
how many we have.

I have been told, by both my host and the VIP desk, that mailed

booked through a host, they do come off your comp balance.

Despite this seeming inequity, I ALWAYS book through my wonderful

the many courtesies that have been extended on me.

OTOH, were it a different casino/host, where I did not have the same
fine relationship, I might save my comps and book through the

Hi Mike,

Actually, I don't think that "all other things ARE equal".

Aside from comps, which I believe are more liberally bestowed by the
Peppermill, than by either Atlantis or Silver Legacy, IMO the PEPP
has the best VP inventory in Reno.

Additionally, I like their restaurants, generous FP, drawings, booth
service people and slot attendants and supervisors much better than
those at the other two casinos.

I stopped patronizing the Atlantis years ago, due to what I felt
were their tight comps, uninspired service and less than outstanding
VP (as compared to SL & PEPP).

I still play/stay at SL when my husband is with me, because he
prefers the less "glitzy" ambiance of the SL. O/W, I always choose
the PEPP for the reasons stated.

These are very pesonal opinions of course. Others may feel quite
differently.

Best of luck in wonderful Reno, in whichever casino you select.

OK now I'm REALLY confused and I was just about to book a trip! I have an offer for free play and 2 nights in a suite that expire July 13. The offer says all comp expenses will be charged to my account. Will it not be charged if I book thru marketing? Next question: another offer good thru 9/13 has an offer of free play only on designated FREE PLAY Machines. Are these poorly paying machines only or what? Last question: I have a coupon mailed to me for 2 free nights with no mention of charging my comp account. Will I be charged for this offer if I go thru my host or if I go thru marketing?

Anyone with knowledge concerning these questions would be greatly appreciated, sooner the better. Thanks for your help.

Hi Don,

I don't blame you a bit for being confused! A lot of conflicting
info has been posted. I posted what I was told by PEPP personnel,
and I'm sure the other posters did the same.

All I can suggest to you is that you call marketing and ask the
question. Write down who you spoke with, and the answer you were
given. Book your offer depending on the answer you are given. If
it doesn't work out as advertised, plead your case to a host and see
if they won't resolve the situation to your satisfaction. Worst
case scenario: They'll charge your comp account. You'll still have
a free room, and, if you give them enough play (roughly $10K daily)
I'm sure that your meals will be comped at well. Meal comps can be
gotten either the booth or at evaluation at check-out.

Next question: another offer good thru 9/13 has an offer of

free play only on designated FREE PLAY Machines. Are these poorly
paying machines only or what?

I believe that, now that FPDW is MIA at PEPP, that you can use your
FP on ALL VP. This includes 10/6/40DDB, 10/7DB, 9/6JOB, 8/5BPProgs.
9/6DDBprogs. etc. Hardly "poor paying" machines!

Last question: I have a coupon mailed to me

for 2 free nights with no mention of charging my comp account. Will
I be charged for this offer if I go thru my host or if I go thru
marketing?

Please see my first paragraph. Only a PEPP employee can give you
the absolutely correct info, and this may be a crap shoot, anyway.
I'd certainly ask for a supervisor, and make SURE to write down
their name!

Anyone with knowledge concerning these questions would be

greatly appreciated, sooner the better. Thanks for your help.

I hope that this helped a little.

Good luck in Reno!

>Will it not be charged if I book thru marketing?

I think Reno casinos try to make it confusing :-). I can't answer
about marketing, because we always go through a host. For what it is
worth we are platinum and have RFB status (comes off of comps, but we
can go negative). At one point we had LFB, where only the coffee
shop, buffet and food court were automatically comped. So you might
ask a host to see if you would have any sort of RFB status. In this
case, even if you run out of comps, you are fine - your room and food
will be covered. RFB or LFB covers meals for two people - we don't
drink much so we haven't tested the limit of the drink comps. If you
don't have any sort of RFB or LFB status, then you should ask how much
will be deducted off of comps for the room so you can decide if you
can play enough to make the offer worth it. If you play just VP,
figure a .5% comp rate.

Next question: another offer good thru 9/13 has an offer of free
play only on designated FREE PLAY Machines. Are these poorly paying
machines only or what?

The only machines we have encountered that did not allow free play
were the full pay deuces and those are now gone. All the double
bonus, 10/6 DDB, NSUD are covered - at least the machines we've
encountered, as well as multistrike.

Last question: I have a coupon mailed to me for 2 free nights with
no mention of charging my comp account. Will I be charged for this
offer if I go thru my host or if I go thru marketing?

Coupons for rooms do not come off of comp accounts no matter how you
book it. Coupons really are free rooms. However, if you use the
coupon, you pay a small ($3-$4) energy surcharge that you are charged
on comp offers.

Hope this clears things up for you.

Thank you for clearing up some of my questions. We really enjoyed our first visit there and hopefully will enjoy many more. The only thing lacking in Reno is entertainment, but perhaps that was a seasonal situation.
