Peppermill comp information

As a follow up to my previous posting this may be of interest
regarding what I have been told in several telephone conversations
with the Peppermill regarding the balance and use of our comp
account.

After correcting for the true promotional budget comp that had been
mistakenly been charged to our account, we and the VIP representative
realized that the reason that the balance was so low was that the two
rooms our host told us he was comping on our upcoming trip had come
off our balance. Since that is a business trip and this trip was a
vacation, we asked that 2 nights from this trip be comped instead.
They agreed. I then asked that the remaining balance in our comp
account be also used to reduce the cost of this trip.

Apparently this cannot be done. Among other reasons I was given was
that if we didn't play enough on a future trip then we would have
comp remaining to have a portion of that trip comped as well. I said
in that case we would prefer to use it now and pay cash on a future
trip. No go.

Another reason was that if there was no balance in the account then
we could not come in with rooms comped up front. I said we never had
any rooms comped up front so that was not a problem. No go.

The Peppermill guy (not our host) explained that the balance in the
comp account was one of the factors in determining mail offers and
that if the balance was zero we would probably not get any "free"
room offers in the mail. I said we never used the "free" room offers
and would prefer just to use the comp now. No go.

He then stated that other promotional offers would be lower if there
was no comp balance in the account. I did not ask if this included
the free play.

I asked what would happened if we were overcomped and there was a
deficit in the account. He said they did not like to use the word
deficit and that it was not a situation where the deficit had to be
made up before comps were again received. That for a certain level of
player there would still be food and other comps even if the balance
was zero or less. I bet not for long.

So to sum up we were allowed to use about 67% of our comp balance
against our bill. Oh and the difference between the casino rate and
the internet rate, taking into consideration taxes and the energy
surcharge was $38.01, not a night, but for the entire six night stay.
(One night was higher). This was not on a regular room, but a spa
suite.
