Peppermill - been awhile since we've been - any idea how to get some comps

My wife and I used to get to Peppermill a few times a year but I think its been two years since we've been. We used to get pretty good comps ($150 to $200 in free play) as well as complimentary room offers.

Either due to the time its been or the new system they have in place we haven't received anything since September.

Finally trying to arrange a trip back there soon. Any idea how best to try and get some comps?

Do you think I could still even get any from them? I know they've changed their comps system quite a bit.

We can get $100 a free play from the Indian casino down the road without paying the $50 extra in gas to get to/from Reno and paying for a hotel bill so I'd like to try and get something.

Didn't know if I should call and try to talk to a host, send an email, or what other alternatives people might think best.

From the board I see the video poker has been going downhill from what it used to be (although light years better than our local casinos) but we really do like Peppermill (at least what it used to be, will be interesting to see how much its changed).

I appreciate any ideas.

Thanks.

I am at the Atlantis for a few days right now and as usual I am enjoying it.
Their video poker hasn't gone downhill and they appear to me to be much more
generous with comps than the Peppermill. Today and tomorrow they will be
having double comp days and I will be earning comps at approximately .6 on
the right games. Have you considered giving the Atlantis a try?

Thank you for the info. I would not be adverse to it but my wife is stuck on Peppermill. We went to Atlantis once a few years back and I don't think she is interested in going back. We usually have luck at Peppermill so that plays into it as well.

Well, then I say good luck at Peppermill.
Their comp rate is ABISMAL.
If you're absolutely stuck on Pepp, then put in about $10k a day, but don't expect any kind of comp other than a mailer with some "complimentary" rooms.
From what I can see/heard, Pepp is wanting to cater to high-end Clientele...the kind with more money than brains.
If you can get $100 free play from an Indian Casino, then by all means TAKE IT

Talking about the Peppermill , here is a VP question for you.
Peppermill has 2 similar games , very close to each other
8/5 Super Double Double ( 99.69, V=51, unusual holds like JJJA, near rear door )
                                                     9/6 Double Double Aces/Faces ( 99.46, V=42 , unusual holds like AK, 20 feet up from shark eef )
Since DDAF is very close to DDB, you might play this game more accurately than SDD.
I've tried both , with mixed results....Anybody here play these ? comments ?. I believe both of these machines are considered non-advantage and will generate max VP comps.
regards...Tom

Dang that's too bad. They used to have good comps (at least for what we wanted - good free play, free rooms and meals - although its not like we ate went crazy on the food and used a lot of comps there).

Sad to hear its gone that far downhill. I worried what they would do to make more money when they did that expansion.

You would think with the economy and more and more casinos in California taking away business they'd try harder to get people in the door but I guess not.

I haven't played the Super Double Double (guess I need to look at that one) but I've played DDAF at Peppermill with good luck.

Its basically DDB but a slightly better payout (unless I have been missing something) so I always play it vs. DDB when I get a chance. I mean you're never going to hold a single 2, 3, or 4 but could easily hold a J, Q, K and pick up that 4 of a kind for a higher payout so for that reason I like it.

If we actually get back there this spring that is one of the games I look forward to playing.

Guess I better look at the slight changes in holds though before I go back.

Trust me, whatever they're doing sure isn't hurting their bottom-line...on the weekends, it's absolutely PACKED...and it's a meat market.
They've got what people what...EDGE, plain and simple.

disagree with most of the responses, pepp for comps has gotten BETTER, not
worse, really free rooms, food comps not that hard to earn, for me $150 to $200

go to web site and enter vip services, e-mail a casino host, I recomend Kevin
Brantenger my host , and give them your name and account number if you know it
and ASK if you can get some free nites . I did this 5 or 6 years ago i just sent
my request to peppermillreno as I never been in the casino before and had NO
playing history there. Kevin responded in 45 min with 4 free nites, been goin
there ever since . With your history at the pepp will be no problem. I have
emailed Kevin every time i go and never a problem, he has also given free rooms
to my friends, all players, on my request with no hassle. and they all still go.

Note: I have never met Kevin all these years, only deal with him per email/,
been getting 25-35nites a year

MJ,
I'm just curious to what your coin-in is at Pepps? Daily and how much per year?

OP finally got a helpful reply from MJ. Only thing is there might be some debate about comps being "better" that years ago when the OP last visited. Free play offers for out of towners have been decreased.
Coupons (50$ matchplays, $50 food for gold) removed. No Mr Money plays for 1000 points. Lesser prizes on daily card swipe. But still great machines, totally free suites, and now swipe card at point of sale and use WV points at Peppermill..and those nice free trips to wendover with free play. But this place has hardly became a wasteland
as others in this thread claim.

MJ:

In a similar position here -- We're out-of-towners that used to visit Peppermill a couple of times a years and hit the machines hard for a couple of days. Having a host made a HUGE difference. I agree with the poster who recommended Kevin Brantner. He's been our host for several years and he has always been great about accommodating us with discretionary comps and elite levels (platinum) waiving the normal play requirements, because we have a history of playing $20K/day combined (spouse and I) even for a only couple of trips a year.
We play pretty much exclusively the 99+% VP, of which i hope they haven't reduced. Without a host, I suspect you would never be recognized properly for your actual play.

Again we know Kevin personally, and I would suggest that if you plan to play at all seriously, contact him or one of the other hosts prior to your visit, especially since you have played there before. Contact me privately if you have any other quesitons, I have his phone number.

We are heading back for four nights in a week form now, after having been a couple of years where we've had just one visit each year, so yes the marketing offers have slowed down (used to be $250-300 free play, the latest is $100).

Evidently I am the kind with more money than brains.

They DID have a full hotel last weekend. I stayed in town but made a pilgrimage to the Pep. I agree that the facility is beautiful and, as a musician, I appreciate the fact that there are different genres of music depending on where you are in the casino. Certainly better than the same ol' same ol'. And their flat-screened nature and geographic videos throughout the casino are an added attraction.

Well described, hamstockman, I agree with you completely.
