Yeah, we knew our Peppermill run couldn't last forever. Especially since they've gotta pay for that $350 million expansion. The restaurants and rooms there really are a cut above anything else in Reno, but alas, it's over for us at least for now. It was really the suddenness of it all that was striking. We went from being lavished with everything to being kicked to the curb almost overnight.
Atlantis will probably become our home base now. Our play's really dropped off there in the last year since we started spending 95% of our time at PEP. We're only getting the free room mailers with $50 free play. But hopefully those will go up after we start putting through 10x the play there.
We play the 100-plays in the cave quite a bit (whenever the local smoker with long straggly hair that we call "caveman" isn't there, anyway, which he often is). And they have some good Spinpoker at 25c (we prefer 50c but we can live with 25c). And a few of the restaurants are decent. We can manage there.
I definitely want to check out Grand Sierra further. I haven't stayed there since it was Ballys (like 20 years ago) but it was nice. Thanks for the info. It's good to hear that the Grand Sierra VP may be improving. That's encouraging.

some of the stuff you were getting at the peppermill was too good to last.
atlantis has more 100 play games than peppermill. they have upped the base comp level to about .02. if you play on a multiplier days the comp system can be better than before. at atlantis the comps don't expire. the free play and rooms do not compare, however the rooms do not deplete your comp account.
grand sierra will come close on the free play. they are very aggressive for new business now. 1/2 percent cash back is far better than less than 1/2 percent comp rate at peppermill. they have many new games but most are limited to 10 play. they have quick quads and dream card. there are many shows and concerts that they will invite you to.
everything changes over time. what is good today will be bad tomorrow.
peppermill will be good again some day.
