Atlantis still has a lot of beatable machines like full pay double
bonus (10-7-5, +0.2%) and double-double bonus (10-6-4, +0.1%), some
with progressives and sequential royals, and the casino wide
progressive. Peppermill gives out a lot of free play offers to entice
you to play their almost 100% loser machines, best game now is
basically 16-10-4 deuces (-0.3%). Both places have a lot of heat if
you actually win, the current marketing policy is losers only. Both
places sorely need to update their card clubs to modern standards
where you know exactly how much comp you have, the comp expiration
policy is clearly defined, and you just use your card at the
point-of-sale instead of having to get a paper comp from the card club
center.>>>

On my last trip to Peppermill, I talked to one of the execs about the comp
policy. I referred to a time at Atlantis where they informed me that I had
several thousand dollars in comps to use & suggested that I use them. So I asked
if Peppermill could do the same. Didn't ask them to change their "Won't
Tell" policy but to advise players when their account is pretty high & might need
to be worked down. The response was that changes are in the works. They
might not tell us exactly what our balance is but hopefully we will be getting
some idea in the future. Though the current policy is not helpful to the player,
it is offset by the discretion that is exercised when your account goes in
the red or when you need to ask for a favor. This doesn't apply to everyone as
I'm sure they use history of play & whether or not they've been stiffed on
offers. I'm sure that they're very much aware of the impact that Stations will
make when they enter the market & are contemplating what their answer will
be. Part of me wants them to change to an open system but the other part can't
forget the goodwill that they've generated with me in the past & would be
willing to live with the old system.
