People pouncing on full pay games

It seems that skilled Video Poker players are still a tiny minority, & we're
scattered across the country. Many of these players only go to casinos
occasionally for vacation; others are only interested in high-limit
high-profit opportunities. So in both Reno & Vegas, I haven't found I've had
to fight crowds to play at machines with positve (though minimum-wage)
returns. I do make an effort to play at times that aren't the most crowded,
like if I'm vacationing over a busy weekend, I'll play earlier in the day,
rather than in prime evening time.

A couple of years ago when Silver Legacy Reno had $1 FPDW, even then most of
the machines were empty when I played there.

you know,i have only been playing at downtown
casinos, and i dont see alot of people pouncing on
those so called full pay games. why not? and can
anybody say that those machines at binion have alot of
people playing them?

One of my most fun moments was at a quarter progressive, years ago.
These were the days before machines took bills. The team players
would come in with "cans" of quarters; $250 quarters in metal box.
The progressive was over $6000 and I got on the bank of machines
early, about 7AM. I got machine for me. Of course a few coins in
machine too. I believe there was 24 machines on bank. I started
playing. I just got my seat as the teams were starting to play. The
machines filled up by $7:30 or so. There were a total of about 5 rec.
players and the rest were team players. The fun part for me was
hitting the royal at $6043.00. When the progressive hit all machines
on bank were cashed out, indicating team play. These folks don't play
one quarter unless it'sadvantage play. If some one keeps playing
after jackpot hit then you know they are regular players.

Thus, the problem with the casino and progressives. Other players
build up the progressive then the teams play and take the cream off
the top. That's ok so far. The problem is, the pros take the money
home. The win is not cycled back in to property it came from. The
casino doesn't have a chance to get $$ back.

Actually the progressive was not "theirs". It was being accumulated for the player who eventually would hit it. And they definitely will get a chance to earn it and much more "back". Perhaps not from the exact same person but they will earn it back.

When someone hits a large jackpot on slots it is likely that the casino will not earn it back from that specific person either...

Am I missing something here? The progressive was built by a fraction
of every had that was played to create it. If the "pro" team only
showed up at dawn, the casino probably profited in the time it took to
finally win the prog.

How much did the "pro" team lose by special playing their hands until
reset?

Did a "pro" actually win? Or maybe someone like me who happened to be
in the right place at the right time got lucky?

The bulk of my low-roller play occurs where the casinos are gracious
enough to subsidize me.

Geeze....Don't take it so hard. You have missed something. It's a
problem for casino. You can't argue the point. If someone wins, the
casino wants it back. It's real simple. For team, recreational or
regular players -- players want to take home the win. The casinos
best shot at getting some of the dough back is hoping the winner is a
regular player who plays at that casino.

I agree with all your points. I only mention the problem for casino.
They really don't want a group of people profiting from vp any more
than they want bj players to play at a profit. They are just caught
up in a system that that gives some a chance to squeeze out a small
profit. If they tighten the pay tables too much they lose in the long
run. If pay tables too high they lose in long run. And guess what?
Nobody gives a darn what we think anyhow.

Have a good one....Jeep
