PE coaster

Harry,

You're comments are always welcomed. Traverse City is a very nice area.

One interesting thing about pick 'em is that there are no pushes. This raises the variance quite a bit. Also most pick em machines are slow so that it takes longer time wise to play a lot of hands. Big losses take forever to erase. Using 10x factor, you need to play about 23,600 hands for things to even out at pick 'em. This is 10 times the quad cycle. At that point, with no RF or SF, you should be around 99% return.

Thanks John. As far as TC, for someone who grew up there 30-40 years
ago (egad!) after my family relocated from Flint and found the place a
childhood dream, the present day suburban sprawl is a sad sight to
return to (and traffic tie-ups? ... give me a break!

But at least areas of Fife Lake State Forest offer a modicum of the
splendid, isolated commune with nature I once took for granted
(particularly in the winter). Of course, the prospect that you might
go camping for a weekend in off season and occasionally never see
another soul is out the window.

I don't have stats at hand, but I suspect your 24K hand estimate of
settling in on a 99% return with strong confidence is a bit short.
I'd be willing to research this a little if there were interest.

Because I'm not an active pick'em player, I don't have direct
experience from which to comment. But certainly an avid player of the
game who keeps modestly accurate session records would have a basis
for a strong assessment of the accuracy of this statement. After all,
you're only talking about 40-50 hours of play.

I've gathered from discussions with others that this relatively short
period of play is subject to a broader fluctuation from this ER (excl.
SF/RF) the .2% ocurrence that the "long term" is typically defined by.

Nonetheless, we are talking about a relatively short period of time
over which that 99% return is strongly assured vs. other games and
that's a key reason why bankroll requirements (and the overall
variance) are much more comfortable than most other games.

Tragic City? Just reciting what the locals call it. I still like it.

Yeah, right ... just what I'd expect from a guy who hangs out in Mt.
