With casinos slashing paytables there is another way to view the
situation instead of only with frustration.
They simply have to make it up to you in other ways.
Example: A casino (let's say VENETIAN just as a silly example)
changes their bonus poker from 8/5 to 7/5. I know, this could never
happen in real life, but just pretend.
You have received an average of $100 food and beverage comped plus
your room for two nights previously.
Your criteria now becomes $150, or $200, or whatever to compensate
you for the paytable reduction. In other words, you get back in
another form what the casino is trying to take from you to make your
total return, meaning expected value plus comps, the same.
Oh, the casino won't cooperate? Either give in or move on. But
getting frustrated over corporate maneuvers isn't productive. The
tightening isn't going away any time soon, so plan accordingly. There
will always be a place to play where you feel you are being treated
fairly. Sometimes it just takes a little looking to find it.
