I live here in vegas and play VP several times a week. Mostly the
quarter variety. I have a question. Now slot machines are programmed to
pay out a certain percentage of what they take in right. Are not VP
machines set to a certain percentage also? i mean regardless of what
the paytable is set at...full pay or not. If that machine is programmed
to keep 5% of what it takes in, maybe your two pair doesnt become a
full house.I have read all the song and dance ( Rob Singer & Bob
Dancer) If there is anyone with the knowledge of how they work please
let me know. Thanks and Good Luck to all.......Jim
paytables and payouts
The "keep" over the long run, in VP in LV, is determined solely by the paytable and the skill
of the player, not some other "percentage" programmed into the machine somewhere in
its bowels. Or. so the rules and regulations of the state of NV seem to imply.

I'll quote a statement that I read some time ago. Unfortunately I
don't know who to attribute it to, but it provides a nice, concise
explanation of video poker in well regulated areas like Nevada,
Mississippi, and Louisiana:
"In video poker, the pay table IS the game".
Meaning that everything you need to know about the return of the game
is contained in the information shown on the paytable. You can take
two different machines from two different manufacturers with two
different names for a game, but if the pay tables are identical, it's
the same game with the same expected return.
