One of our members recently went to Las Vegas Hilton on an offer for a $500
shopping spree, only to be told he couldn't get that because he didn't play
enough.
This weekend I was at Bally's for a $500 jewelry store shopping spree. I was
"warned" that next time they wouldn't let me do two promotions at the same
time. Here is what I had done - I had gone to a $300 shopping spree at
Caesar's on Tues. and Wed., where I had played, and then on Friday I was
checked into Bally's for a $500 shopping spree. I also played at Bally's and
had plenty of losses for my previous stay at Ballys.
I said "Huh?" I wasn't doing two simultaneous promotions. I couldn't get a
straight answer on exactly why I was flagged, apparently part of the problem
was that Caesar's shopping was at the same store (their store in Caesar's)
and 4 other stores there. I tried to find out if the problem was 2
promotions within 1 week or what, but couldn't get any sort of straight
answer.
I basically was told "I would be allowed to do this now, but next time, no,"
since both were Park Place properties. Apparently it didn't matter that the
promotions were on two different days and that I had played at both
properties (and had lost $ at both!!).
I checked with my host and he didn't know anything about this "change" and
couldn't figure it out.
It doesn't make sense that they wouldn't want people to play at as many
different Park Place properties as possible. Also note that my play was
mostly "reel" slots at both places on both trips, so whatever their change
was, it wasn't because I was playing VP or any sort of "advantage" player.
By the way, the Caesar's shopping spree was actually horrible, because they
hadn't stocked cheap items and I found that my $300 basically could buy me a
belt, a scarf, or some bath soap! (I ended up with a bunch of bath soap for
gifts). At least at Bally's the jewelery store had brought in some less
expensive items, so I was able to get two nice Citizen watches for my $500.
My overall final impression after this is one of confusion. They invited me
after all. Why make it seem like I had done something wrong when I took
their offers? If they didn't want me booking two Park Place offers so close
together, why not tell me that at time of booking? And I played and lost a
lot of $ at both places. So hey Park Place, I can play elsewhere!
