Also what restaurants would you recommend at Palm's?

Before they took out most of the playable video poker, the Palms was my favorite casino anywhere not in small part because of their wonderful restaurants. IMHO, Alize is one of the very best restaurants in Las Vegas. The food, the service, and the view are beyond reproach. When you add the cost of the wine it does get a little pricey, but the pleasure at eating there and the satisfaction at the end of the meal makes it all worth while. Nove is another top tier restaurant, and so is Simon's. Little Buddha has such good sashimi and so many sake choices that I've never tried the rest of the menu. Cathay House wasn't there before they took out the good video poker, but I'll bet it's good too.

Among the lesser restaurants, Gardunos is a wonderful choice especially if you add a king crab appetizer courtesy of Anthony Curtis's LVA Palms $50/50% coupon. 24/7 is also excellent whether your using your gambling points or not. The Bistro Buffet isn't as good as the buffets at the Wynn, Bellagio, or even the Rio, but it's okay. YMMV, because I haven't been there for a couple of years. The food court is just what you'd expect, and I've never been to Nine because it's supposed to be noisy and full of celebrities. You'll occasionally see celebrities in the main casino, but if you stay out of the nightclubs and smaller high priced venues you shouldn't be bothered by their entourages and the chaos their fans bring with them.

The Palms never comped me (and they told me they never would) but comps seem to be easier to come by now that the good video poker is gone. Fortunately, the LVA coupon can also be used to defray room charges. The Palms still has some positive Double Bonus as well as Not So Ugly Ducks and 9/6 JoB, so with promotions or coupons you can still play there a little. When we were in Las Vegas just before Christmas, We stayed at the Rio (courtesy of a $15 a night promotion LVA found) and ate and gambled a little at Ping Pang Pong and the Gold Coast as well as the Palms. For Yum Tsa (dim sum) you can't do better than Ping Pang Pong which is in the Gold Coast across the street from the Palms. On that trip, we spent most of our time at the Fiesta Henderson and Sam's Town, but arrrrgh, I sure do miss the Palms. I hope this helps, have a good trip.

We had a smooth uneventful flight on Allegiant Air, they now have a direct flight from Lexington to LV. Yippee! It was so good to see the desert again. I was a little turned around at McCarran since we arrived at a different section of the airport. Got to skip baggage claim since we just had carry-ons. I noticed they have added slot machines in the baggage claim area. Took the shuttle over to the Rental car building and rented a Ford Fusion from Payless for $11 per day. The car had a message light on saying "check fuel intake", we told them about it but they said not to worry about it. Oh ok. Arrived at the Palm's, used the VIP check-in to avoid the line. A guy helped me and I tried a $50 trick for an upgrade but he said they were sold out. Our room is nice though, clean with a view of The Rio and Gold Coast. It is in the Palm Tower on the 8th floor. It is free so I am happy. I also got $50 free play, free passes to the spa, Playboy Club and 2 $15 vouchers for drinks at any of their bars. I had called LVA on Friday because we had not yet received our coupon book so they had delivered it to our hotel. After dropping off the luggage in the room, we decided to drive across Flamingo to eat at Rio.

There was a pretty good line at the All American Bar & Grill, I asked the hostess if a lowly platinum card would help and we got seated very quickly. I was surprised. We had the prime rib, mashed potatoes, spinach salad with warm bacon dressing and (I love chili) a cup of chili. It was all just delicious. I don't think I have ever had a bad meal at the Rio. Our waiter was fantastic and I had enough TR points to pay the bill. I left the waiter a healthy tip in cash.
Played some VP at the Rio. I didn't even bother to check the pay tables as I have already read they have nothing playable so I played some of the machines I like like STP 5 play DDB. Played for a pretty long time and lost about $70. Went over to the 100 play and it wouldn't take my card so switched to the other side at a 50 play and played a short time losing$20. Found my hubby playing single line 25 cent DDB so I sat down next to him and put in a $50. Hit quads 4 times and lots of other smaller wins. Husband was tired so we got up to leave and the guy next to me grabbed the machine I had been playing saying he was glad to get such a lucky machine. Good luck to him. I cashed out $210.

We drove back across Flamingo and found a good parking spot. Hubby went to the room, I played various VP throughout the casino until 4:30 EST or 1:30 Vegas time. Had some wins and losses, went upstairs down for the night about $120.
What do the points mean at Palm's? I totally know CET's TR but I know nothing about Palm's system. Guess I had better stop by the Palm's Club today to get some info.
It is now 10 AM on Sunday and I think I will use one of the spa passes this morning. Hubby went to some convention. More to follow.... I hope I am not too boring.

Enjoyed your story! Keep it up! Barbie4me

Well today has been a good day. It is Sunday. I stopped at the Palm's player club to see how their points work and she said I earned almost 7200 points last night. Apparently that gives me about $18 in comps. I used the LVA coupon to get the extra $10 free play added to my account. I looked through the 2012 LVA pov and I must say, I am not really impressed. Anyway I went on to the spa. It is located at Palm's Place and it is a little walk to get there. I don't like to walk through the casino after being at a spa. It is called Drift Spa and it is pretty nice but not nearly as good as Qua. They had an opening when I arrived for a 25 minute back, neck and shoulder massage so I took it. I showered and met the therapist. It was a good massage in a pleasant room. I used the steam room which was very good but the lighting was too bright. Afterwards I went to their hair salon to see if I could get a blow dry/style right then and yes I could and I did. The girl was very nice and did a great job. She also confirmed that CET is in charge of the Palm's. I thought that was the case as why else would i get an offer.
I met my husband and we ate lunch at the Palm's. We checked out some of the restaurants and he wanted to eat at the buffet so we did. It was good. Btw, my husbands meeting was at Tuscany and he got there early as he is an early bird and it didn't start until 11 so he played some on a nickel 5 play DDB and he won $225.
We drove out to Suncoast and then decided to stop in at Rampart (we had never been there). I got a card and we each played about $20. It doesn't seem to be very big and there were so many old people ( we are in our early 60's) but most of these people were really
old. We did not stay there long. We drove over to Suncoast ( Summerlin seems to be a very nice area of LV. It is very pretty around there. There was two men fighting/ cussing in front of the Suncoast. We managed to get inside without a problem. My husband, herein after referred to as Tom, had a coupon for $25 free play for two consecutive days, free breakfast buffets ( we were not hungry) and free room nights (they were booked for this trip). They had a progressive DW 25 cent that was at $2,246 so I got a chair and played it until I felt like a zombie. I played it for about 3+ hours and I didn't lose but ultimately I did not win the progressive. I hit 4 aces and a lot of other wins throughout the play. I put $100 in and cashed out at $155.70. I also played a game that I first read about on this forum. Double STP. I started playing on the 5 cent game so I could figure it out, then a little later I changed it to 10 cent and I was still winning so I changed it to 25 cent and promptly lost my winnings and my beginning money. Go figure! Tom hit a royal on a 5 cent, 5 play machine and on top of the money he also got a pretty nice looking jacket with a subdued Suncoast logo. We used our points and had dinner at Sienna at Suncoast. Actually we both had breakfast food and split a fruit cup. It was all pretty good except for the hash browns which were terrible. I would have rather eaten at their buffet as I love their bread pudding ( which
Is as good as the one at Wynn buffet) IMO. Suncoast buffet closes at 8 PM,
Anyway Tom left SC a winner and I had lost about $60.
I put a $100 in a 100 play and lost it very quickly. We were pretty tired so after we ate we drove back to the Palms. We are now in the room resting for a while. We plan to use our pass to check out the Playboy Club and use our free drink coupons tonight and I still have $40 in free play to use before we check out tomorrow. More tomorrow as we will be checking into Flamingo ( we have never stayed there before either). We plan to go to the Mob Museum downtown and play some Let It Ride at Fremont and we have dinner reservations at the new "Oscars Steakhouse" at the newly remodeled Plaza. We still haven't been to South Point or M and I think we will stop at Silverton to see my fav aquarium. Also playing in a slot tournament at Flamingo. A lady on the Allegiant flight said she was staying at Bally's (booked it with her flight thru Allegiant along with the shuttle ride back & forth from airport to & from hotel) was paying $129 + tax per night plus $14.95 for the shuttle each way x 3 people. She said she never gambles. We should all be happy there are people like them willing to pay. For their shuttle, they were paying $14.95 x 3 x 2 for each way for a total of 89.70. We rented a standard car for 4 days for $44. If you only gambled what the room cost, you could get the room for free but if you don't gamble then you just don't gamble.

FYI- just found out the Playboy Club is closed tonight.

Thanks for the great trip report.

Just to save you some time: the Mob Museum downtown is not going to open until 2/14/12 (Valentine's Day). See their website at http://themobmuseum.org/
