I was suprised to receive my first decent mailed offer from the Palms. 2 Free nights, small amounts of free play and food. Actually a pretty good offer. I was wondering if any other
out of towners received this?

I decided to take them up on it and reserved it in March. The few times I have stayed there
I attempted to speak to a host and getting in touch with them was a hassle. Usually I like
to call them from the room, leave message (since they rarely answer no matter where i stay)
and hopefullly they call back with the answer. I even try leaving my cell, which i have with me.

Now maybe its my play, bad breath, lack of local address, who knows, but the "host" service
at the Palms has got to be the worst. No return calls, vague answers, almost regret at comping anything. Please take my word I know the process and dont ask for much.

I wont name anyone i have used in the past but I was wondering if any "non-locals" have
a similar experience or any advice. Either in someone to contact or perhaps a different
communication style. I was quite lucky there in 2004 I often wonder if thats it. Made it to
Hall of Fame card so I can always count on good parking and 75% off buffets.

Oh yeah, email. They never seem to answer that either. At least the coffee breath isnt a factor here.

I'm an out of towner and get regular offers, not great ones, from the Palms.
They comp my food so I never use points and get rides whenever needed. I av
abt 20K/day, mostly on the .25 NSU 5 plays.

Ask for Micky. Mention to her that years ago you saw her win the bikini contest on
Clearwater Beach. That should get you a free buffet...maybe.

Hi Nelson,

I remember chatting with you a few months ago about The Palms.
Going back in the archives, I found posts related to their poor
service, on 10/30 & 10/31.

It would appear that they're not terribly interested in being
patronized by non-local, non-TV/Movie Starlet, non-baskeball, VP
players.........ESPECIALLY VP Players that have the temerity to WIN!
How dare you think you can win and actually be made to feel welcome
there!

I doubt that this lack of coutesy from their "hosts" has anything to
do with the manner in which you presented your request for a comp. I
never request a comp if I think that there is much chance of being
turned down. I am very polite when making what I consider to be, a
reasonable request, and don't act as if it's my due, but rather a
nice accomodation on the the part of the casino. The ONLY host that
has ever turned me down for a meal comp, was at the Palms. The only
host that didn't return my phone calls, was at the Palms. The only
casino I have ever stayed and played at (in 25 years) where I found
it necessary to call a Casino Shift Manager, at check-out, to zero
out my room charges (because the host "forgot to do it") was the
Palms. The only casino I have ever stayed at that didn't send me
some kind of an offer/incentive to come back, was The Palms.

Considering all of the above, and balancing that against the number
of casinos who have indicated that they they do value my patronage,
I have concluded that The Palms and I are just a bad fit. Much as I
enjoy their superior vp inventory, I just will not play there again.
I'm sure that they won't miss me anymore than I'll miss them. BTW, I
have come out ahead all 3 times I have stayed at The Palms, so this
is not "sour grapes".

Anyway, I wanted you to be assured that the lack of service you have
received, is not a reflection of anything negative that you've done,
(other than your winning record) Of course, you might try losing
next time, just to see if this results in a change of attitude on
the part of your host. LOL! :slight_smile:

Wow you save all these emails. I am impressed. Yes, I was complaining about them
but I guess I thought I would try them again and see if anything had changed. The VP inventory is hard to resist. And I guess I had hoped maybe things had changed as I received a nice mailer.

I appreciate you sharing your host comments again. Thats it exactly. I guess if its free room
right off the bat I really dont need to talk to them anyway. I do like the automated way you can use points to eat with so I am all set.

If I had to pay the outrageous non celeb room rate, then generate 100,000 pts and have to feel like a begging loser for a room comp again no way.

Your right, this could be related to winning. But winning and paying for the room seems like a better ER.

more. When we get the offers we do not call our host to book them, we call
marketing. Should we be booking the offer with our host? We have also
gotten offers for slot tournaments and parties. But I just could not see
myself cheek by jowl with the Playboy Bunnies so we have passed on the

From my own experience, and those of other non-locals, who have
commented on the dirth of offers from the Palms, I would say you're
doing everything just right! You're certainly getting a much better
result than most of the rest of us out-of-towners. I wouldn't
change a thing.

BTW, as far the Palms parties are concerned, I've heard they also
have Chippendales.........

$12,000 a day in play is not modest IMO. If you're a quarter player, and play at 600 hands
an hour or so you are on a single line machine for 16 hours a day. For two players, it
would be eight hours a day. $12,000 a day might be considered "modest" for a dollar an
up player, but still worthy of a nice comp in many hotels.

I agree with you. I can usually get my room and

most food comped on my "measly" $8000-9000K, per day.

I also (usually) play .25, single-line at the rate of 700-800 hands
per hour, for 10 hours or more a day (or until I start seeing
double, which ever occurs first!)

My husband and I play on one card. I play 3 and 5 play, mostly quarters and
sometimes 50 cents and he plays 25 cent single line. Takes us about 4 hours
to do between 9 and 11k. Annie
