Palms vs. Hilton

Wow... sounds like the Hilton is much more generous than the palms.
glad I didnt stay there. The hilton is being bought by another
group and will be leaving the Park Place group, the new owners are
supposed to be doing a $70 million update to it. Dont know the
exact timetable, my host was just passing along the info because I
mentioned that the place seemed a little dated.

Well Jim... it all depends on what is important to you. We each have
our priorities; be it the ambiance of the casino, rooms, food,
pools, or for the diehards - positive vp and good cb/offers. I have
stayed at both the Hilton and Palms and I would stay at the Palms
hands down before staying at the Hilton (many would do just the
opposite). Palms has the games I enjoy and incredible beds in very
nice rooms - both priorities for me. The group that bought the
Hilton reportedly slashed all of the good vp at the last casino they
took over... so I know many are waiting with fingers crossed in the
hopes that won't happen at LVH. As far as offers go, you are
correct - Hilton has Palms beat, hands down.

Thank you... I was focusing on only the $ results or potential of
the property, and as you pointed out there are dozens if not
hundreds of factors in selecting a place to stay in Vegas.
Everything about your visit including interaction with the employees
affects your feeling about the visit, so there is more to the
equation than just comps for coin in, I didnt go the the palms at
all on this past trip, but on the next I will make an effort to
check them out.

Jim

PS. I hope the new owners of the Hilton dont screw up the pay
schedules, that would really put them out of the running.
