In case you haven't already, read Bob Dancer's Casinogaming.com column for
August 1. He does a good job analyzing this particular promotion.
My original "best guess" was that each entry to this tournament was worth
about a buck and a half. When you take into account all the free entries sent
out via postcard, I figure each entry is worth maybe a dollar. Bob came up
with similar-but-slightly-different numbers. In any case, an entry is not worth
much.
Taking into account the time you must spend waiting in line, playing,
checking results, etc., there is no way this promo is worth participating in,
unless you just enjoy the "tournament experience." Personally, I don't.

I put about $8K coin-in at the Palms yesterday and was planning on
capping my day with their video poker tournament. How can anyone
justify participating in this promotion? Maybe I picked a peak time,
but at 7PM yesterday there was at least a half-hour wait to get a
machine. Then how many sessions would I have had to play once I did
get a seat? I gave up after a couple of minutes in line. Anyone have
a more positive experience? Tips on how to maximize the time value of
this promotion?
