Several years ago a Cheescake Factory restaurant opened in the Old
Orchard Shopping Center, in Skokie, IL, a Northern suburb of Chicago.
Having enjoyed eating at the CF franchise in Woodland Hills, CA many
times, EH and I decided the try the new local restaurant.
I ordered a pasta dish and EH ordered a sandwich.
My pasta arrived, looking (and tasting) like a gelatinous mess of
mushy noodles, welded together with white paste. I am NOT a
particularly fussy eater and have rarely sent food back in a
restaurant. However, one forkful of this awful mess convinced me
that this was a complain or barf situation.
After waiting some time, we managed to get the server's attention
and explained that the pasta was inedible. She peered at the plate
for a minute or so, then said she'd return with the manager. The
manager appeared after another inappropriately long wait, glanced at
the vile plate of pasta, and instructed the waitress to take the
pasta off the bill, and get me a different item.
By this time, I had lost most of my appetite, and we were on the
verge of being late for an appointment. I told the server to forget
ordering a replacement lunch, and to bring the check. She soon
reappeared with our bill in one hand, and a carry-out box in the
other. "Here," she said. "A take-home container for your pasta"!

Not surprised. Ate there a couple of years ago and was amazed
at how badly the place slipped both in terms of service and food
quality.Very unlike their Cheesecake Factory parent.
