Palms Offer Question

I am always wondering WHO stays in all those rooms
at the Palms? I know they don't have a huge room
inventory--but it looks like it's mostly locals in there
during the daytime and the twenty-somethings on their
cell phones at nights. Do those people that stay there
"pay" to stay there and then not play there? Maybe it's
only hip to pay and stay. . . . and if Maloof is getting
$ for the rooms--why would he want to comp them?
Just wondering. . . . . . .

Your "bupkus" guess appears to be spot on, Chandler. Deb and I were at the
Palms for 6 days in mid-April for her Ultimate Blackjack Tour show taping.
We cranked one whale of a lot of hands through their quarter machines, mostly
the infamous FPDW progressives. Over two months later, we haven't heard a
peep outta that place. It certainly has nothing to do with our results, since
we both got slaughtered!

Now, on the other hand, we spent just a little time at the Silverton playing
only the FPDW and 10/7DB, and everyone in our group got a pretty nice mailed
offer for that limited play. Free room nights during July, August, and
September. 80% of the dates in those months were free, and the other 20% were
mighty cheap.

My guess is bupkus. Maybe an offer for a not that special room rate every
once in a great while. The Palms is a pretty awful play for the low to
midrolling tourist interested in scoring marketing offers. That has been my
experience anyway. Maybe as their room inventory increases they will get
more competitive.
