we played last year at the Palms one afternoon for about 4/5 hrs
on quarter mostly full pay. We just received two free nights plus 3
days of $25.00 free play per day....at our level we thought this was
very generous. We only go to LV about 1-2 times per year, and lately
only once in the last two. Does this seem a normal offer? -not that
we are complaining!!!!!!!!!

It is generous indeed! As a local I have just re-evaluated my play at the
Palms and found they are giving less and less compared to their competitors.
Their marketing/promo honchos Denise and Shawn elude to some intricate formula
of factors which they don't reveal to justify their latest cut seen in the last
3 months. Even when I said I had a minor and Math and taught at UNLV, they
did not want to reveal the "gobbily-goop" factors of their evaluation of my
play.

In essence for a 70K handle/month, I am now getting $100 (5 $20) in
bounceback coupons.
The 70K represents base point play and NOT on the 100+ machines. I wrote a
letter to George Maloof showing a table of benefits equal to his but for only
10K action not 70K.

Maybe, he is diverting more of his spendable monies to visitors and
neglecting his local bread and butter clientele. No matter. I don't take such things
personally. I give my trade to the best benefit for me.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

It's been discussed before here. The powers that be decided they had
had enough of those wily NSUD players and downgraded the machines.
This lasted for 10 days, amid much screaming from the players. Bob
Dancer, in his consultant role, was able to get the NSUD back, but
with the theo reduced to a third, or likely .67% on the game, with
bounceback awarded accordingly.

I'm guessing, with your background, the house EV against you, before
benefits, is about $210 on your 70K handle. You wouldn't be the only
one in that position, and they know this. How much should the house
give you back for your play, after feeding you?

It's kind of funny, because I had heard of two $100K royals the week
before the machines were downgraded, and that Dancer had one of them.
As for the slot department at the Palms, they have great supervisors,
I wish I could say the same about their boss-makes too many decisions
based on emotion and not logic.

That being said, they cater to a smarter than average gaming public
and take action where they know they're dealing with a very small, if
any, edge. You just can't cavort with all those Playmates, get a
skybox at Rain and eat at Little Buddha and N9NE for free, you know.
Which reminds me, if you can play $5 5-line, or $25 single line, the
Palms is a very good place to play.
