Palms 'music'

There are several annoying things about the music at the Palms. They often
play the same songs at the same time each day. So if I go there to dinner at
6pm on Mon., Wed., and Fri. (we live nearby), I hear the same music, over
and over. Also the restaurants are open to the casino, with little
sound-proofing, so you hear the casino noise and music, and on top of that, music is
piped into some of them as well. Almost from Day 1, the music at the Palms has
been annoying and too loud when you eat at the buffet or coffee shop. And
when they remodeled those venues, they didn't bother to solve the problem!
When I was playing a lot at the Palms, I took a headset with me to listen to my
own music. Apparently Mr. Maloof likes that music, but unfortunately the
majority of players I've spoken to don't. The type of music may be suitable for
clubs and dancing to, but it isn't the "easy listening" variety that makes
people enjoy listening to while gambling, or especially, while eating.

The wife and I both enjoy playing at Hooters because of their music. At first I didn't realize that was why I was comfortable there, thought it was just the Hooter Girls.

The music is clearly tailored for the weekend party crowd at the Palms, not
the weekday players.

And if you think about that demographic, they're the same exact people who
were standing outside Carson Daly's Times Square TRL studio shrieking for
talentless clowns like Britney Spears, the Spice Girls, the Backstreet Boys
and Hanson.

And now they're propping up the music industry by spending millions of
dollars on Soulja Boy ringtones.

Does it make me a fogey that I sit there thinking how much I hate today's
pop music?

(On a somewhat related note, everyone needs to go to
http://www.blobots.com/and listen to the song "Vegas Bars" right now.
Do it. You'll thank me.)

I grew up with classical, big bands, and jazz, so to me to call it "Palms music" is almost as oxymoronic as the term "rap artist". I bought an IPOD and a Bose headset just to try and survive there, but at times the volume is so LOUD that I would leave even if I liked what they played.

So play elsewhere! This web group is for gambling information!

Maloof wants the younger crowd at this casino. Why else would he
have a playboy tower and tatoo shop? If you can buy condoms at the
pool, that is not a place old fuddies are wanted. (Being an old
fuddie, I know.)
