Palms locals mailer timing??

After June's mailer being the stingiest in a year ($100 total free
play; no spa credit; only $40 in food credits), this month's is
downright lavish with NINE $40 free plays (one, yesterday, which I
missed because it was only one day long (sigh), $120 food, 4 car
washes, $25 spa, etc.

I also got elevated to "Hall of Famer" status. This makes me wonder:
1. What month's play is generating this month's offers? (time lag)
2. Do they just step up their offers in general during slower months
(i.e., "hell on earth" months, July and August)? If this and (1.)
above were true, then timing some heavy play in for instance, the
month of May would seem to bring the best payback.

I hasten to add that the comparatively small June goodie package was
augmented by e-mailed $20 and $50 free play offers in the latter part
of the month. Palms still is by FAR the most generous with mailed
offers. In addition to the "calendar" offers, there are slot tourney
invites with high EV (free entry), and merchandise giveaways.

There is also a generic mailer for July (I assume everybody gets this
one) that has a couple of earn 500 pts/get $10 in free play coupons
(which adds 2% to your EV), two buffet twofers, a couple of 3X point
coupons, and (perhaps the best coupon) a 125-coin bonus for quad 8's
coupon which is good all month. It's usable at up to $2 denoms.

All this, and FPDW, 10/DDB, 10/7 DB, 20/7 KBJW.....I hope to God that
nobody buys this place out and ruins it!!

I know people who received this exact mailer for LAST month. A word of warning on the
quad 8's coupons. Last month, the fine print said "No wild card games." While one
changeperson didn't question it when I hit 8's while playing Deuces, another refused to
pay when my SO hit on the same game. The manager that we requested to see confirmed
that he wouldn't pay for our 8s if we were playing a wild card game, regardless.

Because these instances happened a couple of weeks apart, I don't know if it was the
changeperson or if management "caught on" (even though it's a perfectly legit hand) and
informed everyone not to pay on wild card games.

Last I heard Palms has a cut-off date of around the 3rd of the month, with a one-month lag after 3 months of play. Therefore July mailer was based on play from around March 3 until around June 3. I say "around" because I am never sure whether casinos are exact on these cutoff dates or if it differs if the date falls on a weekend. To be safe we never play between the 1st and the 5th of the month.

Our July mailers were the best for awhile - 9 X $50 for $450 each. We are at the 2nd best level, but the only difference we can see is that the top level gets a $50 spa/salon coupon instead of our $25 one - their Free Play is the same.

As noted, some months when our Free Play has dropped some, we have gotten e-mail Free Play in the middle of the month that brought it up. Don't try to figure out exactly what gets what. I know for a fact that the Palms (and many other casinos) are "tinkering" with their marketing offers EVERY month. You could drive yourself crazy trying to second-guess casino marketing minds.

I do know the Palms uses daily average - you are better to play $30,000 through on one day than $10,000 through on each of 3 days. It does impact your Free Play negatively if you take advantage of a promotion, i.e., pick up postcard gifts, and don't play on that day - that is, it ruins your daily average. Playing only positive games will also reduce your Free Play. Those are the only 3 things I think I know at the moment - they may have changed recently and they may change in the next minute .
