I found out the story today. Palms' management apparently does not like it
when gift cards are sold on E-bay or other sites, even though the cards are
purchased (with points) within all club rules. This is a universal attitude on
the part of LV casinos. Selling comps, in any form, is frowned upon, for
whatever reason. I, personally, have never done this, but I don't think any less
of people who do, as long as they abide by all the club rules.
Therefore, effective as of this past Monday, no gift cards may be purchased
at the Palms with points. This includes the Palms Shop, the Stuff Store
(which sold N9NE Group gift cards), and the spa/salon. Currently, the only
exception to this is the Coffee Bean store. You can still get a comp from the slot
club and take it to the Coffee Bean to get gift cards there, limit $100/day.
If you'd like to complain about this unfortunate change in policy, here are
a couple of e-mail addresses to write to:
_Sheri.Long@Palms.com_ (mailto:Sheri.L…@…com) ---- Director of
Marketing
_Tjeerd.Brink@Palms.com_ (mailto:Tjeerd.Br…@…com) — Director
of Finance
As always, complaining "nicely" will be more effective than being
angry/threatening.

Brad tried to get gift cards at the gift shop yesterday but they said they
had stopped issuing them. Brad didn't question them - so I don't know why
or whether it is temporary or permanent. If I had to guess, I would say
maybe they were having trouble with the system since it was connected to
Discover card and not all outlets could take the cards - but that is only a
guess. Hope someone has some answers soon. Seems like they need a gift
card system of some sort since points can only be used for comps. I know I
would miss it a lot - since we use the points for gifts for hosts and many
other people.
