Palms Downgrades Mailers to 100%+ Players; don't Use your Card

I agree with Jean that the Palms seems to grade on the curve and groups the
player by the additional factor of your average/visit. For those of us with
more than a million or so points, I offer this option:

Was passing through the Palms on a 1x (single) point day and saw the FPDW
Progressive at just under $1200. I wanted to play for just a brief session
and knew that this wouldn't help my profile by playing a 100%+ game and would
also hurt my trip average.

My only solution was to play without a card. If I played an hour, I
would be losing approximately 1000 points. I never thought I'd be advising this
but in the scheme of things, I got a shot at a good game and gave up $2.50 in
merchandise to protect my current profile.

Each person might have a different slant so am offering this as only a
suggestion. Give up a little to not upset their applecart. No, I didn't hit that
particular day!

I really agree with the Queen and Anteroz on this topic.
I've also been bitten by the nasty "daily average" bug,
and I didn't enjoy it a bit. I've determined to either play
elsewhere on the shortened play 1st and last days of a stay at a
casino which chooses to use this method of tracking, or, at least
play w/o my card inserted. Neither option pleases me, but the
alternative pleases me less.

I've had the exact same experiences (and come to the exact same conclusion). It's unfortunate that the casinos don't understand that while they may increase their profit margins a little by cutting back on rewards, they're trading off customer loyalty and positive word-of-mouth. Also, since only pros will have the time (and bankroll) for consistent, frequent, massive sessions, the casinos are more likely to see the opposite effect of their intended goal. That is, by rewarding the pros (who tend to approach perfect play) while aleinating many recreational players (who are more likely to play with errors), the casinos may actually see lower profits.
