Palms Announces Slot Club Changes

New slot club rules go into effect June 1st at the Palms Casino
according to mail received from them today.

Points earned as of June 1st are redeemable for free slot play
or comps at the rate of 400 points = $1.

$1 coin-in still earns 1 point.

Old points earned before June 1st are redeemable for comps only.

Old points will expire May 31, 2010.

Designated machines are excluded from earning any points.

I will be very interested to see if the "designated machines" are clearly
marked. This is a first at the Palms that there will be some machines than
earn no points, as in zero, zip, nada. In the past there has been much
confusion over what machines are included in a specific promotion. I hope
the new system is confusion-free. The first test comes with 2X points for
video poker on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays in June. Fingers are tightly
crossed, making it difficult to push the buttons.

I also note that I will have to have some expensive dinners to use up my
points before they expire next year. Could be worse....

Another change is that cash purchases will also count as points on your card at the rate of $1 spent (restaurants, hotel, spa, salon, and gift shop) = 1 point when you present your card. [#11 on new slot club rules flyer]

The Palms is really putting the screws to several players who have accumulated way more points they can possibly redeem in a year. There just isn't enough in the gift shop to spend thousands of dollars on. Some players have more than $10,000 in value on their card. That is not to say that Maloof hasn't made an undisclosed arrangement with those players to give them a cash settlement for their points.
