Palm Springs Area Updates

Spa: New sign-ups get a deck of playing cards. High Limit Deuces
reduced to dreadful 20/12 paytable. Jacks by Oasis Buffet is all 8/5.
The Multi-Strike I saw was severely short-pay for every game. Spa
(according to a security guard) no longer offers a complimentary
shuttle to Agua Caliente which I never knew they had anyway.

Agua Caliente: New sign-ups get a nicely wrapped coffee "sampler" and a
gourmet chocolate bar. Plentiful $1 9/6 Jacks near buffet. There is
also 9/6 Jacks 3-5-10 play in the High Limit (Primrose) Room.
Discretionary comps (not using your earned $$) easily awarded after
paging a host and getting an "ambassador".

Fantasy Springs: Very disappointing compared to previous visits there.
New sign-ups get a free t-shirt, extra large only. Very sparse 9/6
Jacks (single line) near Off-Track betting. Didn't see any NSUD and
only a few Airport Deuces, the rest being 20-12. Bar tops I saw
were no improvement. The High Limit "room" is merely a sectioned off
area of a few rows of uninspired VP, with no privacy to go with the
dismal $5 Game King 9/5 Jacks. My recommendation: Keep driving.

I generally agree with your overall recommendation of keep
driving.

However I believe there might be 8 old upright machines with NSUD
and 9/6 at the $1 and quarter level. They are located in the room
at the bottom of the esculator from the hotel lobby. Turn right
and go to the back and right side of the room. They were located
near the "Star Wars" game which is on a wall and only a few feet
away. The video noise from that game keeps repeating and really
becomes annoying!

They were there a month ago. Did you check that area?

It's possible I missed them. Someone else will have to verify, as the
unventilated second-hand smoke in Fantasy Springs was horrible for me
that day. Even the dust/sand storm outside was preferable.

I was more concerned with what I saw at Palm Springs Spa, because I
could not find hardly any of what was listed in the database. High
Limit was all short-pay yesterday when I was there. Perhaps
downgraded for the holidays? I did see 9/5 $1 SDB at the circular bar
but ONLY if you were at the right seat. The bartender didn't
appreciate me hopping around from one seat to the next checking
paytables. There are also scattered $1 STP 5-play with Airport Deuces
on All-Stars. But no NSUD anywhere I looked, and I went around and
around for quite awhile. I found the very short-pay MS most
disappointing, as previous good MS reports are why I drove to Spa in
the first place. I did "fluke" into a Spin Poker jackpot playing TDB
which will be posted. But I can't return to Spa as a regular
if "survival" pickings are this lean. For me, there is simply too
little to play.

In general, Agua Caliente had the best selection of the 3 PS area
casinos from what I saw. But, again, I could have missed something.
My next trip will be to 3 or 4 San Diego area casinos to explore.
Those seem to be more popular with California players anyway.

Happy New Year everyone,

Mikey
