Palace Station major downgrade...

I was there early this morning. The five machines in High Limit which
contained $1/$2/$5 NSUDs have all been downgraded to UGLY (15/9) ducks at all three
denominations. Loud hissing and booing!

The recent Point Challenge caused these machines to receive many times their
usual play. Apparently the hold on them was not as good as Stations had
hoped.

The 9/6 JOB, which is also on these machines, has not been changed.

It was pretty obvious they were not going to be able to survive
with the beating they were taking during the Point Challenge. I
applaud the Palace Station management for not downgrading the
machines before the promotion was over. As we have seen over and
over again, temporary promotions often permanently kill good
paytables. It is unfortunate that most Slot Managers don't have the
saavy to temporarily lower liberal paytables BEFORE and until the
conclusion of strong promotions.

Also, the two Optimum rows of uprights were not there yesterday. I
asked a floor person about them and she noted that they were moved
close to the casino cage. I didn't have time to confirm that they were
moved.

Should you be suprised the way some people pounded away at them,
some "playing two machines at once" -when there are only three
machines and they are dominated by the best pros, what do you think
the hold percentage looks like?

All ten machines were moved down to the lung cancer area with the
low ceilings, poor ventilation and penny slots. They are in a single
row against the wall in the NE most corner of the casino between the
tournament area and Rancho entrance door.

Lung cancer area! Huh! Thats putting mildly. Went to check it out

last evening around ten and just seconds walking into the area I could
feel my lungs getting into the 1st stages of emphysema! Should be the
called the Palace Station degenerate section! Didnt realize the Palace
had such a seedy part of its casino; good thing way toward the south
end of the place far from the restraunts, tables, and sports book.
Gotta give then credit, they sure know how to deter the advangtage
players! 1st the 5$ NSU downgrade then the relocation of ALL the
optimums plays to the low life sector of the casino! Honestly, I felt
like I was in 16th century seaside tavern! I was expecting a brawl to
break out. The smoke was so thick that just walking through for 2
minutes left my clothes smelling like I slept in a giant ashtray for
12 hours! And evrey person sitting at the optimums was a scrubby
nicotine acttict puffing down a cancer stick like it was going to be
thier last! Major downgrade indeed; simply removing the machines from
the floor altogether would've been less of a downgrade!
